Pretty much that...I think shes basically lying to DWP. She resigned from a good job to look after her 2 kids (nothing wrong with that). Except shes expecting benefits to support her.
Her live-in boyfriend only works part time and is a student, so theres no way he can support them.
I always understood that if you purposely make yourself unemployed, you face a benefits restriction and likely do not qualify for housing benefit (currently being paid to her) or income support. or indeed JSA.
Not sure if I should report her or ask DWP to investigate. Seriously, she got a crisis loan to go out drinking at the weekend.
Not judging, if thats how you want to spend your money, go for it. But at the taxpayers expense?
4 years ago, she was caught fiddling the system, so has form.
So, aibu to report her. shes an neighbour/acquaintence so my info is from her. (yes, she isnt that smart).

How old are the kids?

She can't lie about resigning she will have to prove that she didn't leave voluntarily I think.

I would leave well alone either way.

You are right she may not be able to claim but he can? The claims may be in his name

Crisis loans ended more than three years ago.

Crisis loans don't exist anymore.

So she actually just chose not to return to work after maternity leave if one is a baby? You know that's allowed, right?

I get you, OP, but you will have a deluge of biscuits and advice to mind your own business because most of MN don't believe that anyone would commit benefit fraud. And that the unclaimed money somehow makes up for it, and won't someone think of the children etc Grin

She can though. She's got a child under 5. I imagine she's entitled to income support. No fraud there. Toddle off deary.

OP,
Do whatever you feel is right.

Yeah sure Evil. I need to ring to update my circumstances next week anyway so getting sanctioned would save me a job.

And of course I'll let you post a thread telling everyone about how you reported my obviously fraudulent claim. Because afterall, with such a loose grasp of the system it's perfectly reasonable to declare that anyone whose lifestyle you don't agree with is a fraudster.

By all means, report her, the DWP have a telephone line and a webpage specifically for that.
Do you get your knickers in a twist about tax evaders too?
It's funny how people concerned about benefit claimants and "the taxpayers expense" don't give a flying fuck about the billions lost to the rich.
Actually, it's not funny at all Angry Sad
