desperate for lost teddy (Jellycat 2008) - can anyone help?

This is the first time I've posted.
It's hard to write about it but we lost the teddy my 7 year old son has had since he was born. He absolutely loved teddy saying "Mummy I love teddy more than I can say" just before we lost him. We left my bag/had it stolen on a train in Czech this summer (my husband and I were having a tough time at the time...)
My son has skin-sensitivity issues and the feel of the teddy's special arm on his skin really soothed him, day and night. Now he tries to get soothed my touching his younger sister which drives her crazy, starts fights etc. He looks so lost without him. And can't seem to settle. He
misses him for both company and for the feel of him.
I have tried and tried to find a replacement on line but the teddy is no longer available. Please if ANYONE has the same teddy and their child no longer wants/needs the teddy could we please adopt him. Or if you know where we might find one. This is the teddy bear:

MEDIUM BASHFUL HONEY BEAR BAS3BR - JELLYCAT from 2008
I am at a loss what to do and desperate to find a replacement. Also terribly sad and so angry myself at letting this happen.
Sorry for such a long thread. PLEASE HELP.

I found this one on eBay, but it ships from US. Looks very similar.

That World of Bears one looks very similar though. Could you tell him it's the first bear's brother come to make him feel better, and see if that helps?

I wouldn't try to directly replace him - its obviously not the same bear (he won't smell right at all!). But a little brother, or a cousin, would be a god idea. All those Jellycat toys have the same lovely soft fur, so hopefully your DS will enjoy a new one too

Contact Jellycat directly they often have retired bears available, my friend did this for her DD. Good luck OP

many thanks for taking the time to look.
he has loads of jelly cat teddies but doesn't want to cuddle any of them. i was hoping to find the exact same bear but tell him it is the child of the one we had that needs adopting (i've already told him i'm trying to find his bear's child). my only hope is that seeing an exact bear lyng around (a relative) would move him to start cuddling it...

thanks outward bound. i have called jellycat. they don't have the bear and gave me 5 retailers who might have old stock. i've emailed them all but only heard back from 1.

"Mummy I love teddy more than I can say" Gasp. Bless him.

I would call the retailers in you can, Acorn. Many don't chedk their emails often.

Plus, when you get 'son of bear' you could sleep with him for a couple of nights or snuggle him so he smells of you.

You can also set up a 'follow search' option in eBay so you get an email when one comes up for sale. But enter the specific details of this bear or your inbox will be full of random Jellycats by tea time!

It looks like you can get the same bear in Polar instead of Honey www.worldofbears.com/acatalog/Jellycat-BAS3PBN-Bashful-Polar-Bear-Medium-17317.html - maybe that would have the same texture but be different enough to not be bear's brother/cousin and not a replacement?

Keep looking and you might find one the same eventually. DP has a beloved childhood bear from the 80s, and an identical one came up on ebay a couple of years ago, so now we have 2.

I really hope you find a suitable bear!

That's a real help as it helped me realise it is may have been the actual filling of the bear too that has been so important to him. This bear has the same filling. I will try it and keep searching.

Hi op. Think we might have him (see photo). If it's the one you lost then happy for you to have it as DS doesn't use it anymore. Hope this helps! www.mumsnet.com/emo/te/1.gif.pagespeed.ce.Pm7krOc06b.gif

Poor love, i was devastated when my penguin teddy that was discontinued got wrecked in the wash and binned and no replacement could be found, and i'm a grown woman! I really hope you can find one, the polar bear one is very cute.

For one moment I thought I might be able to save the day with the duplicate bear of DD2's (also aged 7) favourite teddy. Alas, DD2's bear is a bashful honey bear so has a different nose and ears. Twin bear was bought years ago because I lived in fear of the original escaping but he generally stays on DD2's bed.

If your DS would like to audition Twin Bear for the role of his bear's son, he'd be very welcome to him. I imagine a quick genetics lesson could help him understand why the ears and nose aren't exactly the same as his bear's.
