AIBU?

AIBU to be upset that he changed the baby's name?

We had chosen a name. She had a name! Now that she's here, he is refusing to call her the name we had picked, Sophia and is saying she looks like an Audrey or an Arden. He appears to be leaning towards Arden. He's refusing to call her Sophia and I'm at the end of my tether. She's two week old and she doesn't have a name. I wanted Sophia Alice or Sophia Skye. He keeps babbling on about how popular it is and how it doesn't feel like her name and that he knows too many little Sophias and Sophies. It's completely thrown me off track as we had planned to get her letters painted for her name and my parents are asking the name and everytime I say Sophia, he says we haven't really chosen and it's just getting to me! He wants Audrey Delilah or Arden Katherine. AIBU to say that we chose Sophia so she's Sophia now?

I think you both need to agree. What harm if she's nameless for another week or two while you fine a name that you both like.

Congrats! Flowers

Yabu

Until you see your baby you won't know if it suits her

And he's right!! 'Sophia ' is everywhere!

Yabu! You need to agree. Lots of people don't name babies until they are born anyway. If people are asking for her name tell them you will let them know when you've decided!

He cant make you choose Audrey or Arden just as much as you cant make him choose Sophia. Best get the name book out again!

Older daughter has a Twilight first name and a creepy doll middle name. Her twin brother has the same first name as Molly Weasley's brother and his middle name is a Beatles name! Flowers if you get it!

Do we really have to choose a new first name?

How can she look like an Arden?? Is that even a real first name? There was a boy whose surname was that at my school and everyone called him hard on! Please lord don't let him overrule you.

We have a right-of-veto system. Either can suggest a name, either can veto. A veto is final, whining about it isn't permitted.

If he won't go for Sophia and you won't agree to Audrey or Arden, you have about four weeks to come up with something else!

A veto system sounds good but he's so stubborn about her name! No QOD, good guess though!

You have 42 days to register the name and even then you can ask for an extension. I think you should reach a compromise about a name and if you don't like his suggestions, then find a name you do both like.

Are you married? If not, ultimately it is the mother's choice what the baby is called although I don't think it will bode well for your future relationship if you can't agree this.

Sophia is a very popular name but I disagree that it is everywhere. After a year of going to at least five different baby groups every week, I have only met one. These days we have such a wider variance of names that even the most popular ones aren't used as much as the most popular names used to be.

I think yanbu! He can't randomly decide her name is Audrey of all things. I love Sophia, even if it is popular. Even the most popular names are not "everywhere". There is no Amelia, Olivia or Sophia in dd's class, for example

The actual names don't matter. If you don't agree on either Sophia or Audrey then you need to think of something else you can both agree on.
