BIL visits. BIL gets toothbrush from bathroom and wanders around living room brushing teeth. BIL then goes over to kitchen sink to spit/rinse mouth. It's open plan so we get to see him spitting in our kitchen sink.

AIBU to think you just wouldn't do this in someone else's home?

Meh. Not a massive issue IMO.

Ginmakesitallok Sat 03-Sep-16 21:06:08

Did he rinse the sink afterwards?

HeCantBeSerious Sat 03-Sep-16 21:06:10

I wouldn't do it myself but it's certainly not "disgusting".

normastits5 Sat 03-Sep-16 21:06:32

Barf!!! I would absolutely flip , yuk yuk yuk

MothersGrim Sat 03-Sep-16 21:07:06

sonlypuppyfat Sat 03-Sep-16 21:07:31

I wouldn't find it an issue

Ebb Sat 03-Sep-16 21:07:46

He got one of your toothbrushes? shock Yanbu. That is grim.

Unless he spat all over your dishes, I would not turn a hair at that.

Haggisfish Sat 03-Sep-16 21:08:32

What do you do in the bathroom sink that makes it not bleuch?! confused

FoxSticks Sat 03-Sep-16 21:08:45

I'd be a bit cross and I always thought I had low standards compared to most on mn!

nibblingfingernails Sat 03-Sep-16 21:09:23

He took one of your toothbrushes? Bleurgh!!

panad317 Sat 03-Sep-16 21:09:44

Who's toothbrush?!!

If he's visiting....then who's brush did he get from the bathroom?!?!hmm

VeryBitchyRestingFace Sat 03-Sep-16 21:10:32

If it's an already used toothbrush belonging to one of your family, I'd baulk a bit at that.

But the kitchen sink thing, I'm easy.

44PumpLane Sat 03-Sep-16 21:11:32

Seriously people find this gross? My eyes have been opened!

I clean the dogs bowl in the kitchen sink, pour tuna juice down the kitchen sink, pour off milk down the kitchen sink...... I so wouldn't be bothered by someone spitting (in a controlled manner) toothpaste down the kitchen sink as long as they rinsed!

However I shall definitely never do this at anyone else's house now I know there are people who find it gross!

DropZoneOne Sat 03-Sep-16 21:12:27

Why the need to walk around, brushing takes 2 minutes, just stay in the bathroom and use the sink in there. I'd find it bleurgh too.

Tiptoethr0ughthetulips Sat 03-Sep-16 21:12:49

As long as it's his tooth brush it wouldn't bother me.

panad317 Sat 03-Sep-16 21:14:16

44PumpLane would you use your BIL's toothbrush?! If I understood correctly he's using someone else's.

BennyTheBall Sat 03-Sep-16 21:14:54

I would be a bit annoyed. Why can't he do it in the bathroom?

It's weird to wander around the rest of the house brushing your teeth.

ExcuseMyEyebrows Sat 03-Sep-16 21:15:32

A bit strange but he obviously feels very relaxed in your house to do something like this?

You could take it as a compliment I suppose confused

Oldraver Sat 03-Sep-16 21:16:02

I would prefer not to see people brushing their teeth. My OH walks around the downstairs (where his bathroom is) brushing his teeth and I can smell the horrible toothpaste and hear this crssh crsssh noise which irritates me, so I would prefer it to be done in the bathroom. Spitting out int he kitchen sink....not too bothered so long as it is rinsed away

Honestly, I think you are unusual to care about the brushing/sink.

But no way should he help himself to your toothbrushes!
