Honestly, the amount of declarations about what is healthy and unhealthy.. its ridiculous.

if you listened to everyone on here we'd all have to be vegans and living off sucking water through a celery stick.

Just shut up. If you honestly think food like Sausages, Mashed Potato, Tomato Soup, bread, cheese, milk and most fruit are unhealthy, the you're teaching your kids into eating disorders.

At work my nickname is the "food police".

I prefer to think of myself as more like the "food Stazi" though :D :D :D

It's good to get a healthy balance of foods but YANBU to say people on here are often somewhat precious about what that entails 😂

The food Nazi's on here, aren't the Vegans, though. We get enough crap said about our diets.

Theres two extremes on every food/weight thread.

Everything in moderation. That's it, surely?

It makes an interesting read I'll say

Food is food.

I am morbidly fascinated by the 'what have you eaten today' threads and how they descend into competitiveness. I'd never comment on them though. It's just a way to say 'aren't I virtuous' isn't it.

My sister recently be became vegan and follows all the well known Vegan and raw food fanatics on youtube and instagram. I find them all vapid and annoying, many of them make broad claims about nutrition without any real knowledge or qualifications and most of it is utter bollocks

"The food Nazi's on here, aren't the Vegans, though."

oh i know, but if you cut everything out of your diet that i've seen named as unhealthy then no-one would be eating any meat or animal products, or fruit and most veg is also bad for you.

Really?

I'm always posting about how shite my cooking/meals are and no one has said anything negative to me.

I just read everyone's delicious meals, nod in agreement and then phone for a takeaway. I've never seen it as a competition.

Ah fruit is unhealthy according to some posters. Apples are treat not an everyday food

When moderation is chocolate, biscuits and sweets everyday - it's not moderation it's excess and often people do eat the wrong foods in excess and think they eat a balanced healthy diet

YANBU. They do give me a good chuckle, though I feel very sorry for their kids.

We have a very 'Highgate mum' kind of person at work. Last Christmas he told us about taking the chocolate out of his kids' advent calendars and replacing them with dried fruit (which is a once-a-year treat in his house) and bragged that they asked him for organic hummus for lunch. They are going to be the most junk-fuelled teenagers in history when they rebel.

I find it really amusing. I hope they realise their kids are going to be inhaling pot noodles and billy bear ham when they escape move out.

I haven't read that many posts criticising other posters food choices.

There was one yesterday on the tomato soup thread, did someone complain about cheese in lunchboxes too, really Hmm.?

All the vegans I know (including me) war an absolute shitload of unhealthy crap. A vegan can eat just as poorly as an omni.

Start a thread "I had rye crisp bread with cheese and an apple" and you get "Cheese AND an apple? You are DOOMED. You will be morbidly obese in no time".

Start it with "I had McDonald for breakfast and chocolate cake for lunch and now feel bad" and you get "I eat 3 burgers every day and wash them down with fat coke and Jaffa cakes whilst remaining a size 8".

I made a lovely curry tonight using a jar Shock of Pataks Rogan Josh, I was too lazy to make one myself, I just added extra veg and beef, it tasted fantastic.

MadHattersWineParty · 01/09/2016 18:59

Yeah, cheese is too fatty for a lunchbox apparently. Carrot sticks are more than enough to sate the hunger of a growing child apparently Hmm

Although to be fair we aren't allowed any snacks between breakfast and lunch when I was at school.

clopy, they probably already are at friends houses.

i had a friend who's mom was a weight watchers fanatic, she policed everything my friend ate.

Every walk to school she was in the local shop stealing chocolate, every visit to my house she was asking for a dip in our sweet jar and every lunchtime was filling her boots on crap at school.

her mum gave the sweets, chocolate and 'unhealthy' food, reward value by banning it.

YANBU and I really feel sorry for some posters DC.
Little do they realise that once their little darlings reach the teenage years they will be eating their way through anything they can lay their hands on Grin

I have to say as a recovering anorexic/bulimic I find some of the food threads here a bit Shock

Some of the ideas around 'healthy' and 'unhealthy' are bordering on my ed thinking at its worst.

The cheese thread today had me gasping. Honestly, it's cheese!

I've worked so hard at maintaining an actual healthy diet, and yes I snarffed 2 big cookies today (rest day and tmrw is interval runs) I hate the low sugar, low carb, low fat diets out there. They are so bad. Unless you have actual intolerances to food then everything in balance and moderation is good.

And yes kids need fat and sugar and carbs (shit loads of carbs). Some of what I read on here is utterly insane. (A lot of posters are absolutely bang on though and I do read lots of posts about proper balanced diets too)

Yep. It's amazing it doesn't show up on "mn's best loved phrases". "That's by no means healthy, it's pure sugar" Right up there with "did you mean to be so rude" and "are you on glue?“

We were brought up on very healthy, cooked from scratch food. Brown rice, wholemeal bread and pasta, never any crisps, fresh juice only, no mixy up or fizzy except at christmas, biscuits were a treat, sweets once a week. Partly because it was cheaper to cook in bulk from scratch in the 80's, processed stuff and treats were expensive, but also because my mum preferred all the healthy stuff. She was gutted when we all started buying pot noodles and cheesy pasta with our pocket money when we were teenagers.
