Following on from the interesting & informative London thread.

For me the NW is Liverpool & surrounding areas. However I'm sure others will say the NW is much further north or south....

I'm really interested to see the replies...

Manchester and the surrounding areas grin

I love Manchester, my favourite place to visit! I left my OP vague deliberately..

Grenada TV region. Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria, Wigan and Manchester.

Ummmm...I'd say Liverpool up to Scottish border with the Pennines as the border to the NE.

Well obviously, Liverpool is the Centre of the NorthWest. Then is spreads out, down to 'Wag country' (Cheshire).

Then upto Lancashire, who we're sort of connected to and out to that other place (Manchester).

I know it includes Cumbria, but I think of them being very different. It's the stop just before Scotland on the train and even though it looks similar to Wales, it feels different.

In fact, I'd also say Cheshire is NW.

X post

Possibly just touching into North Wales, certainly Chester. How far West though?

littleprincesssara Thu 01-Sep-16 00:40:12

Is it that bit marked "here be dragons" on the map?

/hides/

Sorry! I love the NW really.

MargotLovedTom Thu 01-Sep-16 00:44:37

How far West? Until you hit Wales or the sea? wink

leccybill Thu 01-Sep-16 00:58:46

Prob Wales border then. And East? Trickier.

sandgrown Thu 01-Sep-16 01:02:42

My work area is Wales and North West and covers all of Wales, Liverpool, parts of Manchester the north West coast and up through Cumbria.

MrHannahSnell Thu 01-Sep-16 01:02:47

It's the area between the sea and the Pennines, south of the Scots border and north of the River Mersey.

Disabrie22 Thu 01-Sep-16 01:10:44

North west is Cumbria

eightbluebirds Thu 01-Sep-16 01:19:42

Um what now!? I live in the north, Liverpool etc is not north. North of London doesn't mean it's 'north'. Cardiff is NW here.

Birdsgottafly Thu 01-Sep-16 01:29:19

Liverpool is in the North West of the U.K.

Wales, is split up, into North, West and South.

JadziaSnax Thu 01-Sep-16 02:08:29

Lancashire, Manchester, Liverpool, Cumbria & Cheshire.

Careforadrink Thu 01-Sep-16 03:07:02

Cumbria

Liverpool Manchester etc. are not the north. They may as well be the deep south to me.

bumsexatthebingo Thu 01-Sep-16 03:20:30

From Chester up to Cumbria and out to Manchester.

Truckingalong Thu 01-Sep-16 06:00:37

Wales is not in the north west. It's Wales. It's a different country.

DrLockhart Thu 01-Sep-16 06:08:33

The boarder of Cheshire reaches down to Stoke. Stoke is never included in the north west but also isn't included in the Midlands

Calaisienne Thu 01-Sep-16 06:17:32

DO is from Cumbria, he says The North starts at Preston.

Calaisienne Thu 01-Sep-16 06:20:10

DP not DO, bloody autocorrect.
