To fork out nearly £100 for DS nursery uniform and his teacher looks like she's a stripper

I'm really pissed off. I thought my DS's nursery uniform was compulsory. I've paid almost £100 for polo shirts, jumpers and a jacket with the school logo and I find out 3 weeks after he has started that it was parents choice.

But what really pisses me off is that the teacher turns up looking like she is coming back from a music festival or night club. She had the tiniest cut off jean shorts and a top that I could see her boobs. She wasn't wearing a bra. God knows what my DS aged 4 said about this because I'm sure he would have. Every time she bent over I was afraid they would pop out of her top. Surely it isn't too much to ask to dress appropriately! I'm not a prude but what is it teaching the kids that they have to be smart but she can wear clothes that wouldn't look out of place on a stripper. I'm going to have to speak to the head but it is so awkward because I know the nursery teacher and head teacher out with school. WWYS?

This is a joke thread, right?

Nope. I wish it was. Stripper may be excessive but her clothes really leave little to the imagination.

Are you on hallucinating drugs? Your encounter with the nursery nurse sounds like either a dream sequence or a 250 word fantasy essay.

Hahaha. Best thread title for a long time. Well done OP.

Who's 'he' who stated it was the parents' choice? Not your DS, surely?

If the teacher really is dresses as you say, yes, I can imagine small children might comment, but you could probably do your bit by teaching your child that it is very rude to discuss other people's clothing or bodies, couldn't you?

Well it's your fault you didn't properly check whether the uniform was compulsory or not.

There's no rule saying women need to wear bras. She's a nursery teacher not a lawyer. Most schools do have dress codes yes, but if her headteacher (her boss) hasn't said anything to her I don't know why you think you have the right to dictate what another women wears to work when it has no effect on you. Maybe it'll teach your son not to judge a women by what she wears but by how she behaves?

I'd play her at her own game tbh. Show up to pick up your dc wearing even LESS clothes.

If you don't own nipple tassels the tops off the Fairy Liquid bottles and some craft glitter will do at a push.

Is she dressed like this
Or more like this, as its hot outside

How are the fact that you failed to read the uniform information and a woman wearing shorts to work linked? They seem to be two separate things.

You should read information more carefully and the woman in shorts should watch out for you as you're a judgemental cow.

I'm all for anyone, men or women dressing how they wish paper doll but don't think its too much to ask to cover up a bit when you are in the workplace. My issue with the lack of bra, other than be mildly jealous, was the loose low cut top she was wearing meant when she leaned over you could see her bare breasts. Taking the free and easy approach a it too much. I wish I'd said something at the time but was in a rush and a bit shocked.

I found out about the uniform when I was emailed by the school asking if I could place my order for uniform before the start of term. The nursery gave me a handbook about 3 weeks after he started, it states it is not compulsory in the handbook but the email suggested it was.

Your fault you didn't check if it was compulsory. I made this mistake with DDs nursery but as it turned out, all other parents bought the uniform anyway so if we hadn't...DD would have been left out. We didn't get the 'branded' ones though as they wanted 30 quid for the jumpers, were you could bu the same jumper without the name for a fiver.

As for the teacher..there should be SOME kind of dress code for staff. I find it hard to believe a nursery school teacher turns up looking like a stripper though tbh

Well the fact there was a sodding nursery uniform costing more than a teenagers phone bill should have sent you running in the opposite direction way before you clapped eyes on strip club staff members.

Be honest hi just wanted to look all posh and pretentious with your child in a fancy nursery uniform and you don't like mixing with riff raff....

Horrid description of a member of staff BTW. Shorts and no bra does not a stripper make. Perhaps she just wanted to be cool and comfy and be able to play with the children.

I don't think I have ever looked close enough to see if DDs nursery teacher wears a bra either. Shall have a good look when they go back next week and report back (if I am not locked up) Hmm

This was the most inappropriate I've seen her, but to be fair, it was a warm day. however I've questioned the way she dresses before.

Thesparrowhawk they are linked, in my head anyway that I've had to shell out a lot of money and send my DS in to nursery looking smart and she looks like she heading home from Glastonbury. I am not a judgemental cow, if I was I would be sending an email to the head or the school inspectorate. Jeez.

But you said you were going to have to speak to the head... And now you're not judgey because you haven't sent an email to the head...

Ok, yeah. I've not met any strippers but the shorts wee tiny. No one is helping me out with how I should talk to her. I once mentioned to one of the other mums and she agreed that it was crazy the way she dresses.

Maybe take a selfie with her, then show that to the head to show the inappropriateness of her attire? I suggest leaving off your habit though as this could influence the head slightly...

So she was wearing denim shorts and a best top in warm weather? Shock horror! Was she wearing stripper heels as well?

I find it very difficult to believe that an establishment that pushes a nursery uniform so hard would allow a staff member to dress in an inappropriate manner. I wonder whether you're jealous and exaggerating how the woman was dressed...

MiddleClassProblem · 29/08/2016 23:43

Strippers tend to wear bras, FYI.

When you said she looked like a stripper, you judged her, and not in a hot but that's a little inappropriate, but in a sexual way. Do you not think the head would know what she's wearing and have said something if they thought it wasn't right? Do you think you might be exaggerating
