I know everyone hates it. Dumbed down TV for the masses etc. But it still gets me. Watching it now on catch up and am sobbing, happy, warm etc. Am I the only one?

YABU. It's contrived, cruel horsehit. I saw through it a long time ago. Simon Cowell is an arrogant dickhead who badly needs bringing down to earth with a bump.

Strictly is back next week though, and I am really excited about that!

YABU I'm afraid. I agree with everything Runny said!

I liked it when they were actual real people. Now most of the finalists have had minor deals before or been asked to audition by producers. 22 out of 24 of last year's finalists were found by talent scouts; Louisa Johnson from last year never even auditioned but got moved over when she applied for BGT.

YABU I'm afraid. Is it the woe-is-me stories that make you warm snd happy?

Report
laylabelle · 29/08/2016 17:01

I like it for what it is easy viewing and count down for Christmas :-D but is so predicable and set up these days and more obvious about it. Even more so when voting percentage come out

People brought in who've had deals before or whatever..then the shock sob story that the judges already know about. Then the stupid chair thing.

Surprised still going

That woman who was on last, the one who had a record deal 20 years ago, got to the judges houses in 2007. Louis was her mentor, that's where he remembered her from. Not because she had a minor top 30 hit in about 1997. The Finnish girl, Saara, was a finalist on The Voice Finland and was a Eurovision entrant.

It's just fake. Where are the ordinary people? And don't get me started on that nasty chair thing they do now where people have to beg for their spot in the show in front of baying crowd. So, so nasty and cruel. Building up hopes and dashing them. Awful.

No it's not the sob stories. It's seeing people perform well and get a break. I don't know. Kind of agree I'm being taken for a mug but I don't seem to mind.

I don't watch it but - going by what's in the papers - this country has a critical shortage of Nans.

It is known as Crap Factor in this house.

I am rather glad DH and the DDs seem to have given up watching it over the last couple of years so that I don't have to suffer it.

Nope! Enjoy the singing but I can't abide all the back stories especially sad ones meant to tug on the heart strings! It drives me crackers, just sing for fucks sake...I don't care about the dead rabbit you lost when you were 5!!! Either you can sing or you can't!!!

I know...I have a black heart!!!

Mummaaaaaah Luckily, you don't appear to be enough of a mug to buy the recording products, which is why they tend to sink(are sunk may be more accurate) without a trace.
The money isn't in the winners, it's in the telly rights to the show. That's what Syco is interested in. A million quid (chortle) contract to the winner is chicken feed by comparison.
Having said that, I suspect most 'contestants' are fairly clued up these days and know that they can have a 10 year career of getting their tits out for a magazine, or appearing on I'm a Celeb etc.

It's not a singing competition, it's a vehicle to sell a lot of prime time advertising space and a showcase for whatever diva is in London for the weekend to promote their latest generic auto tuned drivel. I absolutely hate it.

It's shite but enjoyable shite at times.

Strictly Come Dancing, now that has to be the most boring programme that's ever been made!

Oh god, you are severely unreasonable I'm afraid (along with anyone who still think Big Brother is worth watching). I liked G4, it went downhill after that. Can think of many better ways to destroy brain cells than watching any Simon Cowell ego trip show.

It's opening figures were poor.

I haven't watched it for years. I liked the year where Alexandra Burke won, and seeing One Direction be developed was quite interesting.

The obviously contrived nature of contestant selection, the novelty acts, and the dead relatives are tedious. It's cliche ridden too. It's also failed to unearth a singing star who'll pack out stadia for several years as far as I know .

I like the auditions but stop watching when it gets to the live shows. I didn't like how Saturday's seemed to show about 6 auditions that's it! also felt that honey G was very fake. possibly an actress? that's why she was wearing the shades...

YABU.

Mildly talented Scottish lad wants to buy his single mum a house 'because she's always been there for me'. Cut to red-faced overweight woman crying happy tears over her son's rendition of 'You raise me up'. Song keeps playing on the background. Enter middle-aged fish factory worker. Judges look at each other like 'yeah, right'. Fish factory worker turns out to be mildly talented. Nicole Sherzinger cries and tells them that they have a beautiful soul and 'one hundred times yes'. Cut to fish factory worker saying they 'can't go back there (i.e. to the fish factory) after this'.

Winner is forgotten before the 'X-factor tour' is over.

The end

I like it. Yes it's shit and all fixed blah blah, but its easy watching saturday night tv. I also much prefer the new old panel. Hated grimshaw...

I watched it with my mum on saturday and we played guess the sob story.
'I say unemployed and 'last chance'
'I raise you....crying grandma and 'doing it for me mam' Grin

I'm sure some of the auditionees have done away with the relatives themselves.

'Auntie Brenda fell down the stairs when you weren't looking...........think I'll apply for X Factor this year'.

I like it too op. I've even warmed to Nichole ShitSinger this year when before she grated on me.
