I know, I know, ikea on a bh weekend is an error, but we were passing and needed teaspoons according to DH

AIBU that if you want to zoom around pushing through tiny gaps and getting in people's faces like you are the busiest, most important person in the world, you shouldn't be going to ikea on a BH weekend? And if you do go, you have to accept that you're going to be bimbling along behind the world's slowest walkers with your ears being assaulted by screamy whining kids?

Nb. I am neither the aggressive walker, bumbler or owner of whiney children, just pissed off at being shoved out the way by Ms. Self Important.

YANBU. IKEA is no place for zoominess or aggro.

I live 10 minutes from a humungous IKEA which is open until 9 pm every weeknight. I only go there after 8. 'Tis heavenly.

I always think the carprk is the worst bit, if you can survive that then you're home and dry.
I saw one of the worst fights between two drivers who were waiting for a space ( in a corner, they were approaching horizontal and vertical)

I was there yesterday, a woman left her trolley in the aisle blocking it while she and her companion looked at something.
And a family of 2 adults 3 teens who milled about , on iphones , not moving over but when anyone tried to get past, they moved into their path.

There's enough space in the aisles if people move their trolleys to the side, so the Twatty Walkers shouldn't be held up.

Don't get me started on the blardy Self Serve Checkouts though......

I have to confess to being a twatty ikea walker I get so overwhelmed with the brightness/noise/crowds that I always have a tantrum and end up seething with rage at anyone who dares to be in my way or indeed in the store at all. I don't go to ikea very often.

I'm wary of the place lately, anyhow. Went once and got evacuated, half way round. Went again and got as far as the checkouts to find huge queues because their system had gone down.

There are always twats in Ikea, I think they must hire them in.
The slow people are there to make you spend more time looking at stuff.
Getting stuck behind them in the restaurant when you've seen the one and only empty table and they're preventing you from getting to it by dithering and taking up the entire space - now that's maddening.
Ikea must have secret shares in Valium, I always feel like I need some after a trip there.

We're aggressive walkers. We live 10 mins from ikea and we know the layout pretty much by heart so we weave in and out and cut through the ditherers.

We do tend to avoid the place like the plague at the weekend and during school holidays though.

It's not really the weaving in and out (which I do myself), it's the getting so close up into my face I can taste what you've had for breakfast. AND she was walking the wrong way round (drip drip)

Agree with Daze - the bimblers are the problem, wandering round in a frigging daze as though they've never seen a lightbulb or a scented candle before, and holding family confabs in the centre of the aisle, or stringing out their 5 DCs to cause maximum disruption.

I have to go to our nearest (50 miles away) Ikea on Monday. I am absolutely dreading it. The car park will be heaving and it will be full of dawdlers and infants. I need to pick up spare crockery and glasses for my holiday home and i can’t put it off any longer. I used to love going to Ikea and now i hate it!

I zoom round Ikea. I too live locally to one, and know it well. I would NEVER shove some out the way though. I won't even get close enough to bump into them by accident. I tend to weave through the displays when the path is too full, or just say excuse me to the packs of ditherers who are standing still, filling the main route.

We did Ikea twice today. Twice. Because we forgot the smegging second pack of hinges for a door.

There should be a separate walkway for dawdly bimblers. Anyone suddenly stopping and not looking behind them at the incipient pile-up should be made to build a Billy bookcase in under 2 minutes on pain of a lifetime meatball ban.

Im an aggressive Ikea-er. I always think it's going to be great and then half way through I freak out like a spooked horse and power walk to the end. It feels like a haunted house ride at the fair. You're all up for it and excited and then it's like "fuck this. Let me out let me out let me out.

Agree about night time being the best. Other days that are great to go is when England is playing, The Grand National, etc.

Any other time is hideous, I have had my trolley stolen, it was full of stuff that they left on the floor (great when you are on your own with a baby and no pushchair), I have also being trapped in the car park for yonks and even had someone stealing the petrol of my car (honestly, they broke the "lid" and I came back to an almost empty tank .

But what I hate the most is people who act as if we were going into rationing or something of the sort (and those that are walking at a very very small pace unaware they are causing an enormous queue of pushy people).

YABU! It's a shop not an amusement park that you go to for a day out. And if that's the kind of thing you must do on a day out, do you have to walk six abreast and park your proms where those of us in a rush can't get past??

And those of us rushing round are probably only there because we need one tiny vital part that we didn't notice we needed when we bought something else the day before. We're perhaps half way through putting the thing together and have had to nip back, we don't want to have to walk round the whole store at funeral pace just because you've got no spacial awareness!

Just leave enough gap for people to pass by and it shouldn't be a problem for either the tortoises or the hares, should it?

Another aggressive ikea goer who lives 5 minutes from one. The bring the family for a day out to bounce on the beds and do things they aren't allowed to do in their own home crowd that piss me off. Send a responsible adult, put kids in the crèche. It's a warehouse not an amusement park.

yes I'm the twatty aggressive walker too. I weave in and out and get fucked off with people in my way. I'm obviously just as annoying as they are. Thats the beauty of IKEA I spose. We are all equal in our twattishness. I love / hate IKEA.
