Giant dog turds outside our house

For the last few months every couple of weeks there has been a giant pile of dog shit either just outside our steps/gate or slightly to one side of it. V v difficult with 4 dcs and we have avoided it except for one occasion where 4 y o ds shows got binned

It has been making me so angry but until a few days ago I had no idea who the irresponsible dog owner was. I saw them twice at the weekend with their v large dog off lead walking ahead of them across the road and it deposited a massive puke which they then ignored.
The following day the same was done just outside our house. I had planned if ever I saw this happen to approach them but they looked absolutely terrifying and the dog is huge and off lead (and im slightly scared of dogs)

Firstly I'm not sure who id report this to (local council ? Which department?) and WIBU to photograph them/video them as evidence ? They clearly don't care about the amount of disgusting mess their dog leaves and I'm so angry about it

I'd be inclined to hang out of the window with poo bags and shout ' Here you go, I've got spares'

Oh how not only disgusting is that, but How Dangerous is it.
I don't know about throwing them bags down. I'd be ridiculously tempted to rub their noses in it. Yes the dogs have to shit somewhere, but. Here's an idea. How about in their own back gardens

I feel for you OP. A mastiff owner near me never picks up after her dog. I have checked and there is a spot on our local council website for reporting these scumbags. in other news I'd also take her mastiff off her - he's beautiful and loves my dog

I haven't reported her yet but I'm going to

definately report them to the council - and keep reporting them as if the person is regularly not clearing their own dogs poop away the council will target your area (dog warden? Not sure about that bit). My council has an online form and a phone app where you can fill in to report dog poo. I reported dog poo smeared up a play park slide and it was cleaned the same day. Normal street dog poo gets cleared up within a couple of days of me reporting it (I live on a road that leads to a popular park for dog walking)

Or I could lend you my DP for a bit no hurry to return him he's been known to collect up the offending dog poo and race after the person who has "forgotten" to pick it up Grin

I'll call the council in the morning. It's just disgusting and the size of the pile makes it unavoidable especially if it rains or gets trodden everywhere. Dh is sick of having to clear up,pour boiling water on pavement etc etc. We have a very unwell elderly neighbour and it's also v unfair on her we worry as she falls a lot she may end up falling in a pile

I reported similar. We've got a camera but the owner obviously didn't realise. She wandered down the road, let her dog take a massive dump literally outside our gate, then carried on walking. She's distinctive - haircut and coat unusual - and obviously lives within walking distance of us. Wasn't long till I passed her in my car and saw which house she went in. I reported her and she got a knock on the door and a fine and was asked to write us an apology letter. Reporting is definitely the right thing to do!

I think there is a Council department which deals with dog shit and irresponsible owners, but I'm afraid I don't know which it is. Just ring the switchboard or check on their website.

I'm not sure if filming it is legal? But you should report it. Someone that lives close to us always lets their dog walk off the lead. One day it took a dump in our front garden. I picked it up with a poo bag and left it on their front garden. The dog hasn't dumped in our garden since Wink

Report. Report. Report. If you can get a photo or something, so much the better. It carries a fine of £100 on the spot, and you can be taken to court fo persistent offences and get fined up to a grand. Some councils even fine if you're found out and about without poo bags. www.gov.uk/report-dog-fouling

I have a massive beef about this with some regular walkers I see.

Do you know where they live? Collect it in a tub for a week and dump to on their doorstop and put a note on their door.

Disgusting but can you imagine their faces...

Get bag (big nappy bag fine), pick up, put in dog bin. Problems with kids circumvented. I never understand why people leave it virtually outside their front doors, tbh, even if it is there because of other lazy bastards.

But our council does have a dog mess reporting page. Google Your LA dog fouling

This is a.real bug bear of mine. I live opposite a field so lots of people walk their dogs near my house. I was getting ready to take my kids and the dog for a walk one day and saw a couple walk by with a dog, it did a huge poop and they started walking off! I'm normally quite a calm person but saw red. I shouted to them 'are you going to clean that up or what?!' They turned around and said they had no bag, to which I replied, here you go I've plenty. I handed them one of the bags and stood there and waited for them to clean it up! If you say something to them they don't have a leg to stand on, its illegal and disgusting. If I saw someone let their dog so this I would not think twice about taking pictures and reporting then if they refused to clean it.

I caught someone doing this, same situation, big poos appearing but not on the pavement in front of my gateway.. on my PATH just inside the gateway.

Finally one morning I was coming out of the shop opposite my house and saw someone with two big dogs off lead - they both trotted up my path, crapped on the path and then out again.

I stopped her and said 'did you know your dogs have just pooed on someones front path'..

"Oh, yes but its ok as they have dogs (my dogs were yelling at the front room window as two strange dogs are shitting in their garden!)... and there's no gate...'

I said 'It's not ok.. thats MY garden and the fact I have dogs (which NEVER shit there as its not safe as there's no gate!) and no gate is totally irrelevant, PICK IT UP..'

And she did.
And she stopped walking past my house too!

So it can be well worth accosting people who are only doing it because they don't believe anyone WILL confront them about it!

Agree with reporting if you've seen the culprit. We had this at our old flat - regular pile of poo in the same spot by our path. We never saw who it was but sprayed some animal repellent (Catapult or something) around the whole path and wall outside the house, which stopped the dog using it as it's regular shitting spot.

Fewer things annoy me more than people who don't pick up their dog's shit Angry

I have the same issue unfortunately the culprit is my neighbours dog walker who ties up about 10 dogs to her hate and then "doesn't notice" the giant pile of shit left on my drive.

I caught him the last time and ended up in a huge slanging match in the street which neighbour decided to butt in on and defend dog walker. She claims it isn't him but she has been away for the last 2 weeks and funnily enough not one dog shit has been left.

Boils my piss! I have 2 dogs alms would never dream of not clearing up! Even my toddler understands and has a tantrum when not allowed and asks to pick up poop!
