To wonder what the going rate for the tooth fairy is?

My DD's spoilt best friend (6) receives a Barbie doll for each lost tooth.

(I have verified with parents, and yes, it's true).

Is this a thing now? We got 20p, in my day.

It's not a thing, it's weird. How do you sneak a barbie under the pillow??!!
£1 in this house although I know some of her friends have had £5 for the first tooth out.
20p in my day too grin.

Give them a small loan of a million dollars.

A Barbie?! How are the parents organised enough to have a Barbie to hand each time a tooth falls out?

Every time DD loses a tooth I think "shit, I hope I've got some change in my purse".

No gifts here, just the shiniest pound coin I can find which sometimes comes out of DD's own money jar

converseandjeans Mon 22-Aug-16 06:22:12

£1

clare2307 Mon 22-Aug-16 06:23:45

We do a £2 coin for the first tooth and £1 coin for the rest. Although some of my daughters friends get a lot more.

Depends on what's in my purse. Usually a pound or two.

They prefer losing teeth when they stay with my mum. Her tooth fairy gives a fiver grin

£1, but I try and make it really shiny.

£1 here. Everyone I've asked in real life does the same.

I was watching the Wright stuff once and they said the average was £5 or something. I'm not sure where they got their info.

50p or £1 depending on what I have in my pure

£1 because that is the coin that fits in the tooth fairy pot (mine are light sleepers so would wake up if I out my hand under their pillows)

My friend gave her children £10 for the first tooth. She was not popular in the playground afterwards

littlem133 Mon 22-Aug-16 07:18:41

£2 for first tooth, £1 thereafter

BrownieQueen75 Mon 22-Aug-16 07:25:45

£1 here.

Although they got tiny presents when they lost teeth in the US (a Disney pin for DS as we were in Florida and a Lego figure for DD as we were at Legoland California) - mainly because the 'shiny coins' we had weren't high enough in value.

50p here, I'm obviously quite tight grin

DubiousCredentials Mon 22-Aug-16 07:27:51

£1 normally unless the tooth fairy only has 50p on her blush

aurorie11 Mon 22-Aug-16 07:30:37

£2 first £1 after that. But... I got caught out almost when asked later in the day after where his letter from the tooth fairy was. I'd never heard of them but his friends had received them, found templates when searching. Oh and you have to give the tooth fairy a name, told him tooth fairy was too busy finding our house to tell him their name in the first letter!!

Tigeresslady1 Mon 22-Aug-16 07:33:44

50p here - but I think most of her friends get at least £1

Hulababy Mon 22-Aug-16 07:35:39

Our tooth fairy was £2 for a first tooth and £1 thereafter. Many similar round here, few years back now.

My younger nieces seem to get £2 per tooth.

A shiny £2 coin here

Grilledaubergines Mon 22-Aug-16 07:41:09

£2 for the first, £1 for the rest. Our tooth fairy is utter shite though and can keep the DC waiting for 3 nights sometimes if she forgets.

RainbowDashian Mon 22-Aug-16 07:44:01

50p - £1 depending on what I've got.

cornishglos Mon 22-Aug-16 07:48:06

I don't care what the going rate is. They're getting 20p.

mummafresh Mon 22-Aug-16 07:57:23

£5 for the first £1 for the others

Notsoyummi Mon 22-Aug-16 09:16:33

2 euro here 5 if it's the first and 10 if we're on holiday!
