To be sad the Olympics have finished

i think it's just what we needed after Brexit. We have done so well and feel really proud to be British tonight. I will also miss all the sports I don't normally watch but really enjoy. My best bits.... Watching the track cycling and Mo Farah winning his races. Also watching Nick Skelton win a gold in the equestrian event after breaking his back and having a hip replacement. We did good!!

Lady Same here. Boring load of shit. Jingoist bollocks. Hopefully Doctors will be back on TV soon.

The time difference stopped us watching a lot, I don't think we caught any athletics live.

Terrific effort by the team but I won't miss it.

Well I feel exactly the same as you OP. I adore the Olympics. I went to events in London 2012 and now I'm desperate to attend one overseas when my DCs are bigger.

Yanbu. I'm not into sport the rest of the time but I love the Olympics. Only two weeks until the Paralympics.

I normally hate watching sports on TV. ..but I love the Olympics, the swimming, diving, gymnastics and athletics especially. I do feel a bit sad it's over.

I think the Brits did do an amazing job, but I'm not interested in sport, and I don't get the tallies by county, it looks to me like (amazing) individual achievement.

This year on TV has seemed really sport heavy so far - Olympics, Euro 2016, all the usual sports programmes that I tend to avoid, and probably a ton of stuff I've forgotten. I'm just looking forward to the Holby City double bill on Thursday Grin

Only 17 days till the paralympics though! And we have some brilliant athletes in that, plus Adam and Alex will be on the Last Leg every night Grin

It is sad it's over, it's been wonderful.

The organisation of it was utter shit, and what they did achieve came at the expense of the Paralympics. I really think the IOC need to put their hands in their pockets to make up for their poor choices.
So, whilst I enjoyed the performances I saw, I'm glad to see the back of it. I too love the Olympics and am pretty angry about the way it's turned out.

I am going to miss The Games too, for me the highlights have been Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro, Nick Skelton and Big Star, the team dressage silver and the women's gymnastics. Feeling lost without them.

Bring on The Paralympics and Natasha Baker and JP!

I've enjoyed it, couldn't watch another week of it though.

YANBU, I'm in severe Olympic withdrawal. I've watched more tv in the last fortnight that I have in the 4 years since the last Olympics!

It's been amazing and I'm sad it's all over.

I'm also sad it has ended but my own activity levels dropped quite dramatically over the past two weeks so it's probably no bad thing 😳

What a lot of meanies! I'm a fair weather sports fan and only watched some of the more exciting bits but I loved it! Real feel good watching and so proud for all the competitors and their 'early morning rising, ferrying and supporting' families.

Not many going to be watching Paralympics then! This is why they are scaling them down

I've also managed to avoid it almost entirely, watching other people run, jump whatever, is tedious in the extreme

Glad Britsin did well but think it's boring sorry. Also think the athletes are amazing in their single minded ruthless training programmes to get to the top of their game but really hate the 'hero' bollocks

No they do it for personal glory and that's fine but heroes are far far more than that. Young doctors working in war zones to me are heroes.

However glad people enjoyed it and glad we did well.

Report
devilinmyshoes · 22/08/2016 17:03

But many are heroic, have overcome serious adversity. Like team refugee and those Olympians from disadvantaged backgrounds such as Claressa Shields. All of them are amazing however they got there.
