Why can't people use the "watch thread" tool instead?
It's quite annoying.

elderberryflower Sat 20-Aug-16 11:09:57

Because they're lazy and annoying!!

Funko Sat 20-Aug-16 11:10:23

Doesn't seem to bloody work from my phone app .....

ElsaAintAsColdAsMe Sat 20-Aug-16 11:13:19

It's annoying when it's someone going through a traumatic time and obviously need support, then along come the place markers like they are watching a soap opera.

MadHattersWineParty Sat 20-Aug-16 11:13:47

Yeah but if you just watch it you miss out on the deletion message if there is one, it just vanishes.

AnchorDownDeepBreath Sat 20-Aug-16 11:14:33

Yeah, it's because the watch thread and bookmarking functions mean you don't know what happens if the thread suddenly disappears. If you've posted on it, you see the deletion message.

motherducker Sat 20-Aug-16 11:23:30

Oh I see. Well they could at least try and think of something interesting to say.

Sparklingbrook Sat 20-Aug-16 18:34:14

If the thread disappears it can only be one of two reasons really. Troll or deleted at posters request. Not sure why seeing the deletion message is so important. Bookmark or say something IMO.

There was a thread last week

Sparklingbrook Sat 20-Aug-16 18:35:49

Meant to say Watch and Bookmark.

NavyandWhite Sat 20-Aug-16 20:16:59

How does it actually annoy you?

Surely you just skip past to the next comment? confused

Funko Sat 20-Aug-16 20:23:47

Cos the deletion message is often insightful and or amusing 😄

Becky546 Sat 20-Aug-16 20:28:19

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

The ideal would be that Watched threads still appeared on the Watch list after deletion I guess.

Would save on all the follow up 'What happened to the thread' threads that usually start when a PBP/troll has been found out and deleted.

Funko Sat 20-Aug-16 20:39:40

grin manic

motherducker Sat 20-Aug-16 20:48:17

You can bookmark without placemarking!

motherducker Sat 20-Aug-16 20:49:54

*How does it actually annoy you?

It's boring reading rows and rows of "placemarking" and it also fills up the thread quicker than necessary.

SisterMoonshine Sat 20-Aug-16 20:57:31

Should threads just be efficient then?

i hardly do it myself, but I like the place marking posts.

PosiePootlePerkins Sat 20-Aug-16 21:02:40

Ooh I've upset you a few times then! Didn't realise it was an annoying thing to do...
Sometimes I find a thread really informative but have nothing useful to add, so I place mark.

RainyDaisy Sat 20-Aug-16 21:26:00

Place marking (never, ever done it before.....but kind of felt I needed to)

Nanny0gg Sat 20-Aug-16 21:28:28

I agree OP.

You can Bookmark and you can Watch.

How difficult is it?

ProseccoBitch Sat 20-Aug-16 21:28:48

I'm with you OP.

NavyandWhite Sat 20-Aug-16 21:30:14

I can't say I've ever seen rows and rows of " place marking "

Sparklingbrook Sat 20-Aug-16 21:34:24

The rows of placemarking tend to happen on threads where people just want to know what happens at the end. Husbands going missing, long running parking threads, that sort of stuff.

It just fills the thread up to 1000 quicker.

NavyandWhite Sat 20-Aug-16 21:36:33

I don't compute it that Sparkling, just gloss over it. Tbh though I only ever read the OP's posts on threads like that.
