OK, I have to make a confession first. Up until recently I always flushed tampons - I had never really thought about it and nobody had ever told me I shouldn't. It just seemed such an obvious thing to do. Then I discovered on mn that I shouldn't. That I should bag it and bin it instead.

So I started to look for bags for this purpose, but I can't find them. I'm using nappy bags, sandwich bags, small freezer bags, or whatever.

Are there not bags made specifically for this purpose, that are sold alongside all the rest of the women's sanitary products??

I've seen them. They are overpriced doggy bags. You're better off with them tbh.

Yes, you can buy specific bags for this purpose. They tend to be scented.

Boots sell them (am sure Superdrug does too) in the sanitary towels / tampons section.

There used to be bags called "pop ins" that mum used to buy for me and dsis to use. I actually looked for them recently and couldn't find them. Tbf you can buy about a million cheap nappy bags for something like 37p so it's much more cost effective to do that.

There are bags for this purpose, me and my daughters have them for when we're in public. In our Asda they're sold alongside the rest of the sanitary products.

I buy some for dd called Poppins or something else with a stupid name. They are purple and in the aisle with feminine hygiene products.
They cost about £1 and I buy them every 3/4 months or so, so while dog shit bags may be cheaper (no idea, don't have dogs), they're hardly expensive!

Disposal bags are next to towels and tampons in supermarkets.
Nappy sacks are probably cheaper, though.

RainIsAGoodThing It's a hard habit to get out of and I think my daughters and my sons girlfriends would be rather embarrassed filling up our bins with their used pads and tampons.

Wouldn't they be more embarrassed to cause drain blockages and to have to call the plumber to deal with it?

I have a box of poppins that I bought before I switched to washables.

A couple of reasons for not flushing:

• they can block your toilet or pipes
  
• they can cause blockages at the sewage works
  
• they can be flushed out to sea.

I agree, I've always flushed my tampons and never been told differently. What's the problem with doing that anyway? It's going to be really difficult to stop as its just an aromatic thing.

Also, we have 4 toilets in our house, we won't carry bags with us at home all the time so do I stock them in al 4 toilets and cost me a fortune or just 1 insist everyome only use that toilet for changing themselves?

We have a small pedal bin in the bathroom which I put a bin liner in. Tampons then get wrapped in toilet paper and just put in the bin.
