Woman in supermarket queue behind me

today shoved up all my shopping (on the conveyor belt) and started to heap hers on.

I didn't know what to say as I would never dream of interfering with someone elses stuff but I don't know if I am being precious - am I?

Had you finished loading yours on?

Very rude of her. She should have at least asked if you'd mind making more room for her shopping.

I like to think I would have confronted her if this happened to me but I'd probably just silently seethe.

Rude. I'd definitely say something. I got deliberately rammed recently by a shopping trolley or cart as they call them here. The man wasn't happy waiting in line so it seems. So many rude people about!

I glowered at her but she didn't seem to care. What should I have said?

I was so flummoxed that she was so cocky that I didn't know how to respond.

I had finished putting everything on and I was packing.

I've been known to hold the divider bar in place with people like that. The sodding belt will move up as it empties anyway!

I had someone start loading their shopping on the conveyor belt behind mine while I was only halfway through unloading a trolley. There was someone in front of me too so I wasn't holding her up. I politely asked her to move it as she had only left about a foot of space. She huffed and moved it back another 6". She huffed a lot more when I filled up the available space and shoved hers back further. I smiled sweetly and said "I did tell you that ther want enough room"

I've had this happen, OP, as I've been packing my shopping, and items have been pushed onto the floor, or over to one side, where they can be overlooked and not be put through the checkout.

I'd have said something for sure. Fun time 😊

Please don't ever go to Aldi you would not like the checkout etiquette or lack of

Now I like Aldi checkouts because they are so terrifying that no-one ever takes the piss by encroaching on belt-space. People behave themselves in Aldi because all their attention is focussed on winning the packing/scanning race. DD and I beat the checkout scanner woman once with our packing and she actually congratulated us.

Aldi checkouts make me panic too much to shop there.

I found a way to help myself cope with moronic trolley drivers.
'Oh sorry you just walked in front of my trolley '
' Oh sorry you shouldn't be in charge of a supermarket vehicle '
They hear the word' sorry 'and think you are actually apologising to them!! You know you bloody haven't they are just too dense to understand what you really said!! Walk away smiling!!

You packed? At the checkout?!! Brave, brave person Wink

Doublejeopardy, agree re Aldi checkout, as it's "dog eat dog" there.
To the extent that I've avoided Aldi for several months, while I'm recovering from an injury which has left me still slow on my pins: I just can't face it and feel safer in Sainsbury's!
Thinking I might be approaching match fit now, though: I miss Aldi prices.

It doesnt save time. Particularly if its me in front of them because i deliberately slow down

This. It's happened to me and whilst I might not actually say anything, I make it clear that I'm the rate-limiting factor in the equation and that pissing me off hasn't helped their case.

Wouldn't bother me. MN astounds me sometimes, the things that wind people up.

Report
CharlieSierra · 19/08/2016 20:31

I have decided not to put up with any checkout encroaching any more, so whether it's budging up my shopping, nudging with their trolley or moving into the card reader space, I always politely tell them to please wait their turn. No one has hit me yet. Grin

I need CharlieSierra as my Aldi bodyguard.
Then I could relax.

Someone did this to me once and I just walked away and left the stuff on the belt. It was that or bitchslap her, at the end of One Of Those Days, so I walked.

FANTINE1 · 19/08/2016 20:37

I had it happen to me in lidl the other day, to the extent that my items kept falling off the belt. I had been forced to place them on top of each other. The chrck out lady operating the till sympathised with me!.

Christ almighty, I would have gone insane if someone had done that to me. I have obsessive tendencies related to my anxiety and I put shopping on the conveyer in a very particular order, to be packed in a very particular way (it doesn't take me a long time but only I can do it) - if someone started moving things I would have taken all of their things off the conveyer and started mine again. No way. No. I'm getting itchy just thinking about it.

You should look them dead in the eye and say, "Awww, you in a rush?"

Then do everything thereafter at a snail's pace.

Do people ever just go completely batshit and start sword fighting with those shopping divider things?

I shop online. I miss all of the dramas...
