I came in this morning about 11 o clock and a car was parked on the pavement blocking my drive, so I parked my car next to it. Then I saw a nurse come out of another house so I said excuse me don't park there, I can't get in. The nurse laughed. She then drove off and had her windows down and I heard her say on the phone 'some lazy cow had to walk a whole 100 yards.'

How was she on her phone, was it hands free? She shouldn't be driving away (from a stop), speaking on the phone.

Normally visiting HCPs are careful about parking, you seemed to have been unlucky.

She didn't block you in your drive. Unless you have a disability which would make it very difficult to walk the short distance, it wasn't an inconvenience to you. She would have been a half hour at the most. Sometimes community nurses find it a nightmare to find somewhere to park and are on unfeasibly tight schedules. She was rude to have said that in earshot of you though.

If parking was tight, YABU a bit as she was presumably delivering vital healthcare to your neighbour.

I was thinking that myself. There needs to be some uniform clarification because people see tunic and think nurse.

Anyway, it's not illegal to park over someones drive if you're not in it. Yes it's bloody annoying but she was making a visit to someone who needed her help so she parked there. No need for her rudeness, possibly report her to the company if you got a chance to see the name on her uniform.

The thing is why does it matter if she was a nurse or a support worker? Most people don't realise that a lot of community nurses are actually support workers, you wouldn't know unless you ask them. They do the same job, with a small number of exceptions depending upon training.

And it's important because a nurse would be risking her PIN and thus career for talking to someone like this in public, whereas a support worker wouldn't.

It's important to establish the facts before using a job title to call someone out like OP has done.

She was rude, but what can you do. Whatever her job is (nurse or support worker) I feel really sorry for the patients who have to deal with someone with such a bad attitude. I am not sure why people think it's acceptable to be a nuisance towards others?
"sorry, I only parked quickly to visit one of your neighbours" would have been fine.

Our neighbour died of leaukemia a few weeks ago.

She had nurses visiting regularly who parked over our shared drive, blocking it. All I did was park behind their car and waited for them to go.

Mindsweeper, When I was a student nurse I worked with a few community nursing teams. The band 4 support workers can be trained up to HND level and take on additional training to perform almost all the same tasks as band 5 nurses. It many cases the band 4 support workers are much more highly trained than many band 5 nurses. The only difference is the PIN. There has been many calls for support workers to also be registered with the NMC.
