about this chicken

I'm fully aware that I am a bit weird and phobic about food/ food safety issues for various reasons, so would like a perspective on this from a 'normal' person.

Would you eat a rotisserie chicken that had been bought at 9am, (warm) then wheeled around London in a wheelie type suitcase all day to eat at say, 3pm? The idea fills me with horror, but I can't work out if this this a normal response or just my weird food issues talking. Thank you!

I wouldn't been keen, no.

I'm intrigued to know the circumstances that led to a cooked chicken being placed in someone's luggage and left there for six hours. However, to answer your question, if I knew that's how the chicken had been 'stored' then I would find it rather off putting.

accidentalpirate · 15/08/2016 10:09

Hmmm a toughie. If it was in a sandwich would you feel any different?

DramaAlpaca · 15/08/2016 10:12

I don't have any food issues, but I wouldn't be eating that chicken.

Hassled · 15/08/2016 10:13

No - I'd imagine chicken starting from warm and staying at warm for 6 hours would be a case of D&V waiting to happen. That's not based on scientific knowledge, just a gut instinct (wanting to preserve my guts).

But why would you wheel a rotisserie chicken in a suitcase around London for 6 hours? That's a sitcom sub-plot right there.

MiddleClassProblem · 15/08/2016 10:13

Is this a pre planned lunch when traveling? Is it part of a picnic?

SpaceDinosaur · 15/08/2016 10:18

Why is the chicken going on a London tour? Is it getting pics with the touristy sights?!

Also. Hell no I would not eat a 6hr "warm" chicken

LottieDoubtie · 15/08/2016 10:20

Nope It's the fact it was warm when it went into the suitcase that has most put me off.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 15/08/2016 10:24

No. I would eat a pre cooked cold chicken if it had been out of the fridge for a few hours, but not a lukewarm one. Sounds like a recipe for disaster!

However, I've never had food poisoning despite not having separate chopping boards, reheating takeaway (even - shock horror - rice!) and having a fairly relaxed attitude to sell by dates.

Not a chance!

oh thanks so much! this is making me feel much better. Long story, but it was a friend meeting us from the airport- had bought chicken before she left, then ended up getting delayed etc. She was bringing it as a dinner for us to have in the flat we were staying in as a kind gesture. So I felt so guilty not wanting to eat it when she had made all that effort to do a kind thing. But so glad it's not just me that finds that yeuch. thank you!!

Do they not have shops near the flat? What an odd idea even without the delay. I'm guessing she wasn't flying. Did she have ice packs in with it?
