To want to crawl into a hole? Drunk idiot

I posted a ridiculous Facebook status in a fit of alcohol-fuelled rage that was awful and made my DH sound like an absolute bastard as I accused him of all manner of things. Actually he is lovely and I was just pre-menstrual, paranoid, angry and drunk. Not a good combination.

Anyway, I deleted it within about 10 seconds of it going up at about 2 in the morning so felt sure nobody actually saw it. However, get a message from a good friend this morning asking if everything is ok. She has some weird setting that notifies her every single time I do something on Facebook (but strange but there you go). When she clicked it, she could still see the status but couldn't see it otherwise.

Nobody else has been in touch but now I'm worried more people may have seen it and think my DH is the bastard I made him out to be. Can I just crawl into a hole please? confused

shock does your DH know?

Amelie10 Sun 14-Aug-16 17:27:30

Pretty pathetic of you to do that to your DH if you say he is actually a lovely person. Maybe tell him what you did and apologise, in case people have seen it and thinking bad of him.

Imanabsoluteidiot Sun 14-Aug-16 17:28:20

@Jen Yes and he is being much better about it then I deserve.

He was a bit of a dick yesterday and I was angry at him but completely messed up with the crap I accused him of.

He really is a lovely person and I feel like shite.

Stay out of the hole and drink lots of water. Then have an early night. cake

I am intrigued by your friend. What is this setting?

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia Sun 14-Aug-16 17:30:57

she probably has email notifications, so even though you deleted it from fb, the original email will still stand.

just tell her you were having a moment and regret it.

and maybe stay off the booze if it make you vile.

PortiaFinis Sun 14-Aug-16 17:31:38

I'm sure no one else saw it. I did the same about six years ago. I deleted the post as soon as I realised but my father had the same settings as your friend - I'd forgotten he'd become my friend to collect "data" before his father of the bride speech. He and my mother called me up the next day to say "they loved me very much and was I okay".

I'm afraid the only solution I found was to curl up in foetal position and moan softly for about 24 hours, neither my friends or DH were at all sympathetic.

This too will pass. Maybe mention the edited highlights to your DH if you have already.

Imanabsoluteidiot Sun 14-Aug-16 17:31:55

@finola An early night sounds like a good idea!
Something where you select 'closest friends' and it notifies you every time they do something. Apparently she has it set for all her friends. The notifications would annoy me. That's why I'm hoping nobody else has this setting/would have seen.

OhGoshDarnIt Sun 14-Aug-16 17:33:18

I work night shifts and very often see drunken posts in the early hours (usually Sunday morning) that quickly get deleted, and it's the sole reason I stay away from Facebook if I'm drinking. I've read a few shocking things that other people have no idea about.

Does your DH know you posted it?

Imanabsoluteidiot Sun 14-Aug-16 17:33:27

@Portia I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I have done a fair bit of moaning today. It's all my fault but I hope this shitty feeling passes soon.

OhGoshDarnIt Sun 14-Aug-16 17:34:13

Sorry just seen that he does know and is being ok about it.

Stay away from Facebook when drinking

PortiaFinis Sun 14-Aug-16 17:37:11

You'll be fine! You've just got the fear. I'm sure no one else will have noticed but if they do continue with your first response that you said to your friend.

I feel terrible for laughing at your original post. A lot of my friends went through phases of posting entirely incoherent posts in the early hours. I'm not on FB anymore so I haven't seen any for a while.

Imanabsoluteidiot Sun 14-Aug-16 17:39:39

@Portia Thanks. Hope you are right!

I really hope my mother doesn't see it. I definitely swore... A LOT. blush

I've done this kind of thing b4! ..and lived to tell the tale!

Floggingmolly Sun 14-Aug-16 17:50:14

I'd delete my Facebook account if I'd done that, tbh... Drunken ramblings are one thing, but a nasty sweary rant against someone who didn't even warrent it is bad hmm

BastardGoDarkly Sun 14-Aug-16 18:08:49

Why on earth would you accuse your partner of things that aren't true though? I'd be fuming in his shoes.

wtfdidijustwatch Sun 14-Aug-16 18:09:51

FB should have a Drunk Detector, that automatically kicks in after 11pm.

Are you sure you want to post that?
Are you absolutely sure?
This message is 'on hold' while you think about whether you really want to send it.

Don feel too bad OP.
I think we've all done the 2am FaceBook Walk of Shame, where you wake up in a half-sober, ice cold sweat, with a vague realization of having posted something embarrassing . Upon which you hastily delete the post, hoping that the people who log on in the morning won't have seen it. grin

specialsubject Sun 14-Aug-16 18:12:06

once is happenstance...

perhaps some help to look into why you can get into this state - pissed is easily cured by drinking less, but paranoid and so angry are not normal. if your periods are doing this to you, get help!

Champagneformyrealfriends Sun 14-Aug-16 18:16:59

You were pissed, you made a mistake, you deleted it.

DH and I were having a huge (alcohol fuelled) argument once about something his sister had done that had pissed me off. He rang her mid argument to tell her how annoyed I was but because it was midnight I shouted at him not to because they have DC and would be in bed. He thought he'd hung up but hadn't and she woke up to a voicemail of us shouting at each other about what she'd done. And I mean a full on shouty, sweaty row.

blush Hope that makes you feel better.

Champagneformyrealfriends Sun 14-Aug-16 18:17:25

Sweary not sweaty grin

GeraldineFangedVagine Sun 14-Aug-16 18:21:15

On my birthday, I went completely crazy when pissed and did the same as you. Do brought me a bacon sandwich in the morning and asked what on earth had gone wrong. V out of character for me (whiskey). I'm sure it will all come out in the wash op.

Imanabsoluteidiot Sun 14-Aug-16 18:46:41

Glad to hear I'm not alone. Does make me feel slightly better- not that I deserve it. But thankyou.

I'm not normally such an angry person- this is very out of character for me. Too much mixing alcohol (wedding) combined with rubbish mood + PMT. Safe to say, I will be deleting the Facebook app off my phone next time I have a drink.

Champagneformyrealfriends Sun 14-Aug-16 18:57:21

The pill made me angry and paranoid-that's exactly the sort of thing I'd have done when drunk whilst I was taking it! Honestly in a week you'll feel loads better-I can look SIL in the eye now and it was a humdinger of a vm message grin

user1466795981 Sun 14-Aug-16 20:11:58

wtfdidijustwatch - that's exactly what I thought a few years ago! - something like that - an app or something - would save so much embarrassment!
