Has anyone else heard of the carb fuck up diet where a 38 year old woman calls herself the banana girl and says to eat 30 bananas for breakfast and 50 peaches for lunch? Surely this is a joke?

You mean Freelee the Banana Girl?

Report
madhurjazz · 14/08/2016 08:41

She has rice and spring rolls for tea...

She was on a BBC doc recently actually.

Ah yes Freelee was on a BBC thing, think it must be her.

Only takes a few seconds of watching some of her YouTube videos to realise she's pretty vicious! Seems completely unbalanced. Maybe she's just hungry. Eat a cookie, Freelee!

What does it do (supposedly?). That couldn't possibly be a weight loss diet? Confused

I would assume that it's probably not horribly healthy in the long run, but no worse than most fad diets.

The potassium will be deadly!

Excellent diet ... if you're a monkey.

Potassium doesn't build up in the body. It's water soluble so any excess flushes out.

Surely no-one eats that many bananas and peaches?

I can quite believe a fad diet that is 'as many bananas as you want for breakfast' and 'as many peaches as you want for lunch' followed by rice and spring rolls for dinner and you would lose weight in the short term, before getting bored with it, like all other fad diets, but surely the amounts of bananas and peaches would be more like 3-5 bananas and 6 peaches, not 30 and 50?

I don't think I could physically fit 30 bananas in my stomach Confused

It's highly likely that she's orthorexic (not that I want to do an keyboard diagnosis), but if she really believes that she's getting more from those bananas and peaches than she actually is, it's not surprising that she would force herself to eat that much. I believe she does an insane amount of exercise too..

Well, Google tells me that a banana is 100 cal, and a peach 40cal. So that's 5000 cal by lunch Confused

Yes its weight loss kind of diet. I think they mean for people to bike all day to burn off most of the fruir

I used to think some of her ideas sounded quite interesting until I watched a few of her videos and heard some insanely harsh attacks she made on people who eat animal products/meat. A quick Google search will probably bring these up...

Grim.

I would honestly rather be three stone overweight like I am, than eat 30 bananas a day.

IWouldLikeToSeeTheseMangoes · 15/08/2016 18:34

Wonder if those little foam banana sweets count. Reckon I could eat 30 of those.

Floopledoop · 15/08/2016 18:39

Iwould now that is my kind of diet. Might add some foamy shrimps into the mix too. For variety you know

ImperialBlether · 15/08/2016 18:41

But if you were cycling all day it wouldn't matter what you ate!

30 bananas and 50 peaches?! How? I'd struggle to eat more than three!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 15/08/2016 18:45

Wonder if those little foam bananas count? Grin

I suppose you'd lose weight as 30 bananas and 50 peaches would make you sick. All that furry skin bleurgh.

You'd end up with diabetes; trying to process all that fruit every day...

Report
goose1964 · 15/08/2016 18:53

Floggingmolly it probably wouldn't cause diabetes but could cause high blood sugars.eating sugar does not cause diabetes, you need a genetic flaw for your pancreas to stop producing insulin or for your brain to stop recognising it.

I eat a single banana every morning and that does me until lunchtime. Confused

How on earth can she possibly fit all that in?
