To be frightened of reporting my neighbours

We have new neighbours and since they moved in they have caused us a lot of grief with anti-social behaviour. We have tried speaking to them about a few things but they just don't care. They are council tenants and we know they were moved from their previous property because of their bad behaviour. Without wanting to give any identifying information, there have been numerous occasions where we have felt like ringing the police, or possibly the council. However, we want to sell our house in the not too distant future. Am I right in thinking that we can't make a complaint to any authorities because this would then have to be declared upon selling? I can see it from the buyers point of view of course but it seems so unfair that one family can make lives hell for the rest of the street and yet we can't contact any authorities to try and resolve the issues because it would be a barrier to us being able to move! Is there anything at all we can do?

That was the case when I had nightmare upstairs neighbours and knew I would be selling in the near future. It's going back several years, but there was a bit on the seller's information form that asked about it.

No it's only if it goes to court that you have to declare. We had nightmare neighbours too. It's good they are council tennants as more chance of getting rid of them. Keep records of what happened, when etc and call council.

Just to be clear, we had repeatedly been in contact with council and had called the police and we didn't have to declare it.

We are in the same boat here but a few years along. Log all anti social behaviour with the police on 101 and ask for it to remain anonymous. Contact the council housing department and again log every event with them and inform them that you have also informed the police.

I had this. Woman was fucking terrifying and had a selection of really loud violent boyfriends and mates who would come round at all hours. Screaming and plate smashing etc regularly. I was an utter coward - all smiles and sweetness to her face and anonymous complaints till she was evicted behind her back. She told me there had been lots of complaints and I managed to look all shocked and puzzled "really?!"

It's been BLISS since she's gone.
