First of all I'm quite a calm person, it's takes a lot to rattle me

so I was driving today, not much traffic on the roads, a nice smooth ride until I was stopped at traffic lights, indicating my intention to turn left, I went forward, then this fucker cyclist decides to try and play chicken just as I was taking the turn, I stupidly of course had to stop, I then beeped at the cunt cyclist to show I have saved his lifeHmmwho then gave me the finger!!!Angry

So my AIBU is can I run the fucker cyclist over next time, as I think it will serve a lesson to all who think it's my fucking job to look out for idiots who take risks like that??

Depends - where was the cyclist when you were stopped at the lights?

Of course you can't run him over Hmm

Just let it go.

Sounds like you had a fright and he was rude. But actually it is your job to look out for idiots when you're driving, be they in other cars, on bikes or on foot. Well done spotting him. Now let it go and stay safe.

Of course I wouldn't actually run him over but he looked like a keen cyclist with all the gear on, but decides he can behave like thatHmm
What if he takes that risk again and gets knocked over???
Is it the drivers fault that a prick comes up after seeing the indicators on to turn left, but thinks "fuck it, I can make that"

Well aren't you a lovely person.

It is your job to look out for other people on the road, especially those more vulnerable than you. If you can't handle that you shouldn't be in control of a 2 tonne weapon. I really hope we get presumed liability in this country

Yanbu! I saw a cyclist do this once, except the car was already turning and the bike went straight into the cars passenger door. The cyclist was kicking off and threatening the police until it was pointed out to him that a long line of cars had seen him dangerously undertaking - once he realised he might get stuck with paying to repair the scratches he'd caused, he soon buggered off Angry

Actually, indicating to turn doesn't mean much except your intention. Just because your indicator is on, doesn't mean you have the right to turn and people should stop for you. If you want to turn off a main road / into another road / at a junction, it is your responsibility to make sure there is nothing approaching you from any angle. So if you had run him over, it would be your fault and he would claim from your insurance.

Also, if I was cycling and following the rules of the road and someone almost ran me over then told me she'd just saved my life, I'd give the finger too!

YABU and actually quite horrible Biscuit

I'm relaxed now, but I don't feel his behaviour should be excused, yes I saw him just in time, otherwise I would of gone into him, I am well within my rights to feel he was driving irresponsible, and want to rant about, i didn't know swearing and insulting someone who could of caused an accident is so frowned upon

Op I know you're only joking but a few weeks someone actually did exactly what you're suggesting where I live. Car had to wait to pass cyclist. Irritated driver sped on ahead, dud a u turn in a pub car park, came back the other way and purposefully drove straight into the cyclist. It's not funny. I'm not a fan of the road hog lycra brigade but nobody deserves that sort of thing.

Have you checked your car from outside to make absolutely sure your indicators work?

Sometimes the bulbs go and killing a cyclist is an extremely embarrassing way to find out you haven't been maintaining your car properly.

Cyclists should have to pay insurance I think... Might make them think twice if it was their no claims at stake.

Until cyclists pay road tax and insurance I feel we are entitled to shout and swear when they cycle like twats. Just my opinion. ...

Most cyclists have absolutely no regard for the rules of the road or other road users.

However, the job is always down to the car driver to spot pedestrians/cyclists/motorcyclists.

So well done for spotting him and stopping.

Tis annoying, but breathe deep and let it go.

Most cyclists do pay vehicle excise duty, because they also drive. Nobody pays road tax because it doesn't exist.

If we banned everyone who didn't pay road tax though I wouldn't be stuck in shitty traffic now so bring it on!

We have loads of arrogant cyclists near ours. They just seem to think they own the road. You have my sympathy.

Before I get flamed I cycle in London myself so I understand that there are times you need to bend the rules.

Obviously if I drove round a blind corner whilst going at the speed limit and hit a cyclist stood in the middle of a narrow country lane on his phone, id be in big trouble. luck for him I was only going very slowly So now I have a dash cam.
