To not let these gift cards expire

We just moved house and I found two gift cards (Mothercare and Mamas & Papas), £20 each and about to expire next month. We got them when my little one was born and obviously forgot about them.

Ds doesn't need any new clothes or toys and I can't think of any presents at the moment. What would you get?

i would probably get pyjamas or underclothes or t shirts in the bigger size, things that will fit in the future and children always need

Something in a bigger size perhaps? Maybe 1/2 years older than he is now so they are likely to fit him in the correct season.

Or ask them to transfer the balance to a new card so that they are valid for longer,

New duvet cover? stock for any cuter babies (either you or family/friends)

i might be wrong but I think if you purchase something it resets the expiry date? So you could buy something really cheap

Sometimes if they just scan them they'll be extended for a year.

You can get Early Learning Centre toys from Mother care.

With the Mothercare one just take it into the shop ask for a balance enquiry and the 2 years will start again. Then you have more time to spend them.

Just buy a new voucher with them. I've done this loads of times.

If balance enquiry doesn't extend it, just buy something random and then take it back - you'll get a new gift card. Of course YANBU - you would be unreasonable to let them expire and let good money go to waste.

Sorry, I'm going to be that person. If you can afford to, why not use them to buy nappies/clothes and donate them to a bank for those in need?

However, clothes are expensive, perhaps invest in a good winter coat if you can find one?

Clothes in the next size, not exactly hard to figure out.
