It actually makes me shudder..they have a name, use it haha!

Same with "sis" and "bruv"

Any other cringey names?

I don't like being called a guy in restaurants. As in, "Hey [also horrible] guys! What can I get you?"

Cuz is quite Shakespearean though.

mummytofourbabys Wed 27-Jul-16 09:59:58

I am actually guilty of using the "guys" one quite often

Cuz is used in Shakespeare a lot so hardly a new thing.

PotOfYoghurt Wed 27-Jul-16 10:04:25

Just be glad you're not in a place where you get cuzzy-bro.

mummytofourbabys Wed 27-Jul-16 10:05:23

Didn't say it was new Suffolk
Just that I find it a cringey word to call someone. grin

PotOfYoghurt Wed 27-Jul-16 10:09:22

U2HasTheEdge Wed 27-Jul-16 10:12:23

My teens went through a stage where they called everyone 'blud'

Helloitsme88 Wed 27-Jul-16 10:13:26

Yanbu 🙈🙈🙈

mummytofourbabys Wed 27-Jul-16 10:15:44

Blud haha

My boy is 12 and he is down with the slang
Haha

He refers to his friend as his "squad" haha makes me laugh..

EssentialHummus Wed 27-Jul-16 10:16:15

I call my cousin Cuz, which I take is acceptable grin

I really cringe at Blud, Fam and Bruv. Years of living in SE London haven't immunised me.

ParadiseCity Wed 27-Jul-16 10:17:01

I call my cousins cuz, is that cringey or normal? I have tons of them. Don't make me remember all their names.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys Wed 27-Jul-16 10:17:50

Love the idea of a single friend being a squad

blindsider Wed 27-Jul-16 10:21:04

The term 'friendship group' makes me a little bit sick in my mouth.

mummytofourbabys Wed 27-Jul-16 10:21:42

Sorry that was a spelling mistake..
Meant to write friends haha not a single friend, his group of friends is his squad

Haha, each to their own, I just find it cringey, would much rather name people by their names instead of their relation to you, but then I only have 2 cousins so that could be why haha.

lurkingfromhome Wed 27-Jul-16 10:24:16

Gang makes me squirm with horror.

Hey, gang!
Come and meet the gang!

Eurk.

mummytofourbabys Wed 27-Jul-16 10:24:42

envy I think I agree with gang too

LoreleiGilmoreIsMyBFF Wed 27-Jul-16 10:29:39

I'm not crazy about 'the girls' - 'having lunch with the girls'; 'night in with the girls'. Fine if you're talking about your darling daughters, makes me cringe if you're talking about your middle-aged friends.

pleasemothermay1 Wed 27-Jul-16 10:31:30

My 16 year old says

What's up fam meaning family lol

Patterkiller Wed 27-Jul-16 10:31:37

I hate mate
DH meets an acquaintance in the street.
'Alright mate?'
'Yes mate, you?'
'Yes mate, great. How's the family?'
'Fine mate, yours?'
'Great mate'?
'Well, see you around mate'
'Yes see you around mate'

Argghgg.

pleasemothermay1 Wed 27-Jul-16 10:32:33

Also lately he's been referring to his friends as "the squad"

Me and the squad are going .....
The squad would like so,e snacks lol

rainchancer Wed 27-Jul-16 10:33:16

They do it on Facebook a lot. I always think it's kind of of bragging "you lot are only friends, but she's my cousin" kind of thing.
