I'll be on holiday in France. Would like to do something to show these ISIL fuckers that we are not scared of them, and they won't destroy a proud culture which shows them up for the uncivilized filth that they are.

I honestly fear for the world. To attack in a Christian church feels really ominous Sad

Yanbu, I will go to church this Sunday, too.
Oh and let's call the scum Daesh please.

Paris, Bastille Day, Charlie Hebdo, a church. it is a concerted attack on French culture. it has tragic results, but is essentially laughable, when you compare the greatness of that culture, its influence and all it has achieved to this scum. how could they think they will ever bring it down? it's a joke.

Yanbu - it's a lovely gesture of support against evil. I'll be doing the same.

I am very worried about a violent, right-wing backlash. How much longer can people like Marine Le Pen be kept at bay?

Report
TheSunsNotYellowItsChicken · 26/07/2016 20:19

I don't think the right wing can be kept at bay, the people are scared, and they appear to offer a solution. Sadly.

I will too. I wasn't raised a practising Christian but I find the peace and gentle welcome of the CofE the absolute antithesis of the thundering brimstone stuff that gave me nightmares.

I also love the music, English hymns are poetry with a fabulous tune.

So happy to see this thread, good for you OP.Flowers

TheSunsNotYellow it's perfectly possible to have your own morality and not kill people without Jesus.

Absolutely, testing, I didn't say it wasn't. I said I believed the only way this would ever stop would be by the intervention of Jesus Christ.

As a muslim I have had many moments - these last two years especially with the rise of Daeesh/IS - of feeling great shame over what evil has been done in the name of my religion Islam. I am so deeply sorry and so deeply ashamed at this newest atrocity in Normandy today. abhorrent and disgusting to all, I find myself bewildered each day at what is going on in the world. I can't blame you for not understanding as I can't understand it myself. I want to go to church myself to give condolences to a priest in person.

Perhaps people who have a problem with Jesus being brought into a discussion about going to Church, might find themselves attending for more than political reasons. Jesus has a way of getting into people's hearts, even if they do only go to show they aren't scared.
