AIBU?

To feel annoyed at DH showering twice a day

Apparently he needs one in the morning to feel fresh before work and one in the evening after being at work all day - this one I understand but surely after showering the night before and just sleeping there is no need for one in the morning? AIBU?

It's summer and completely boiling here. I think 2 showers a day is fine.

If he wants to do it let him!

I have a shower whenever I want. If my dh had anything to say about it I would be astonished that he thought it was anything to do with him.

It's two showers a day all year. We have a very noisy power shower so the morning shower always wakes up the kids. Other than that not sure why it annoys me - maybe because I think it's unnecessary!

YABU just because you wouldn't do it, doesn't mean he shouldn't. I'm sure he thinks you putting make up on/wearing tights/conditioning your hair/removing hair from your legs is unnecessary- but it would be unreasonable for him to be annoyed that you want to do it.

yabu, I shower twice a day in this weather and sometimes in the winter too...offices are not a nice place to smell a bit sweaty! If he is a builder/plumber/farmer etc then maybe you have a point..but he's a grown up and can wash as much as he likes surely?

I think it's one of those times to "pick your battles". If this is the worst thing he's doing, keeping clean and fresh, then count your blessings Halo

I do the same. Want to feel fresh after a sweaty day and also want to feel fresh after a hot night. I don't have a long shower at night though, just a very short cool one, in this weather. I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to do. Are you annoyed with your DH about something else but pinning it on the shower thing? Do you feel it is too indulgent? Is he withholding something or careful in other ways so you feel aggrieved at him having something not strictly necessary?

Or is it that if he's in the shower and the shower wakes the kids up, it's you who has to get up & deal with the kids instead of having more sleep, whilst he finishes his shower, towels off, cleans his teeth etc? I can see that might be annoying for you.

No idea why this annoys you? Most days I have a morning shower then a bath in the evening.

He's an adult, let him decide.

Ok, Blush I guess I am. I'm not a shower person so obviously underestimate them!

I'm having three showers a day at the moment. I don't understand why it such a problem for you.

You'd have something to say if he wasn't showering especially in this bloody heat.
I've always got 2 baths a day. Totally normal

I shower twice a day. Quick one in the morning and a longer one with a hair wash in the evening.

I get moaned at but his evening shower is longer than mine combined 😠

Fix the shower noise issue then.

Showering before work is appreciated by his colleagues.

Showering before bed is appreciated by whoever shares the bed with him.

I haven't actually told him not to, or that I'm annoyed - I just feel a flash of irritation when he does it....maybe I should look a little deeper as to why this bothers me!

What a strange thing to be annoyed about. Why would another human being keeping themselves clean be anything but acceptable?

A man who showers twice a day and seeks to be clean. Every Southern trains commuter would like all men to do the same.

Report
dementedpixie · 23/07/2016 20:35

I couldn't leave the house without showering in the morning as I wouldn't feel clean. That's whether I have showered the night before or not
