To feel annoyed at DH showering twice a day

Apparently he needs one in the morning to feel fresh before work and one in the evening after being at work all day - this one I understand but surely after showering the night before and just sleeping there is no need for one in the morning? AIBU?

Why does it annoy you?

LaurieFairyCake Sat 23-Jul-16 20:20:38

It's summer and completely boiling here. I think 2 showers a day is fine.

If he wants to do it let him!

Why does it annoy you?

SavoyCabbage Sat 23-Jul-16 20:24:52

I have a shower whenever I want. If my dh had anything to say about it I would be astonished that he thought it was anything to do with him.

InsaneDame Sat 23-Jul-16 20:24:59

It's two showers a day all year. We have a very noisy power shower so the morning shower always wakes up the kids. Other than that not sure why it annoys me - maybe because I think it's unnecessary!

Yabu and utterly ridiculous I shower twice a day and in the current weather it has been 3 times

NavyandWhite Sat 23-Jul-16 20:29:18

Mind boggling.

Scarydinosaurs Sat 23-Jul-16 20:29:32

YABU just because you wouldn't do it, doesn't mean he shouldn't. I'm sure he thinks you putting make up on/wearing tights/conditioning your hair/removing hair from your legs is unnecessary- but it would be unreasonable for him to be annoyed that you want to do it.

Passthecake30 Sat 23-Jul-16 20:30:16

yabu, I shower twice a day in this weather and sometimes in the winter too...offices are not a nice place to smell a bit sweaty! If he is a builder/plumber/farmer etc then maybe you have a point..but he's a grown up and can wash as much as he likes surely?

CleanKingdom Sat 23-Jul-16 20:30:19

I think it's one of those times to "pick your battles". If this is the worst thing he's doing, keeping clean and fresh, then count your blessings halo

Daisygarden Sat 23-Jul-16 20:30:21

I do the same. Want to feel fresh after a sweaty day and also want to feel fresh after a hot night. I don't have a long shower at night though, just a very short cool one, in this weather. I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to do. Are you annoyed with your DH about something else but pinning it on the shower thing? Do you feel it is too indulgent? Is he withholding something or careful in other ways so you feel aggrieved at him having something not strictly necessary?

Or is it that if he's in the shower and the shower wakes the kids up, it's you who has to get up & deal with the kids instead of having more sleep, whilst he finishes his shower, towels off, cleans his teeth etc? I can see that might be annoying for you.

KayTee87 Sat 23-Jul-16 20:30:45

No idea why this annoys you? Most days I have a morning shower then a bath in the evening.

40somethingwonderful Sat 23-Jul-16 20:30:57

He's an adult, let him decide.

InsaneDame Sat 23-Jul-16 20:31:15

Ok, blush I guess I am. I'm not a shower person so obviously underestimate them!

P1nkP0ppy Sat 23-Jul-16 20:31:28

I'm having three showers a day at the moment. I don't understand why it such a problem for you.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost Sat 23-Jul-16 20:31:49

You'd have something to say if he wasn't showering especially in this bloody heat.
I've always got 2 baths a day. Totally normal

HunterHearstHelmsley Sat 23-Jul-16 20:32:29

I shower twice a day. Quick one in the morning and a longer one with a hair wash in the evening.

I get moaned at but his evening shower is longer than mine combined 😠

NapQueen Sat 23-Jul-16 20:32:36

Fix the shower noise issue then.

Showering before work is appreciated by his colleagues.

Showering before bed is appreciated by whoever shares the bed with him.

InsaneDame Sat 23-Jul-16 20:33:40

I haven't actually told him not to, or that I'm annoyed - I just feel a flash of irritation when he does it....maybe I should look a little deeper as to why this bothers me!

CookieDoughKid Sat 23-Jul-16 20:34:01

How much is your waterbill quarterly as it must add up!! Yanbu as we need to be sensitive to our environment

rainbowunicorn Sat 23-Jul-16 20:34:23

What a strange thing to be annoyed about. Why would another human being keeping themselves clean be anything but acceptable?

ForalltheSaints Sat 23-Jul-16 20:35:16

A man who showers twice a day and seeks to be clean. Every Southern trains commuter would like all men to do the same.
