AIBU?

Being induced tomorrow and husband in pub

So after 8 years of trying inc ivf, ops, miscarriages you name it we finally had some amazing luck and fell pregnant. For various reasons I'm due to be induced tomorrow and dh has gone to the pub to meet a group of guys in a longstanding arrangement. I don't mind him going for a bit (he said he'd only be a couple of hours) so we'd still have our 'last night ' together. He left at 5:30 and has just bounced in pretty much pissed. (No thought about what we'd do to get to the hospital if I actually started labour which is a distinct possibility given what's been happening the past couple of days)
I'm sodding livid and he can't see what the problem is. He said I could have come to the pub.... Yes I could apart from the fact that I can hardly walk and am in agony so the last thing I want to do is be in a bloody pub. So having a rant here, aibu or should I just suck it up?

Bloody hell YADNBU I would be furious!

No advice really as I don't know what I would do. My XH did something similarly thoughtless. Sorry that's not helpful but wishing you all the best for tomorrow.

How many weeks pregnant are you? If he's your birth partner and the one driving to hospital if you go into labour spontaneously, he shouldn't be drinking if your 37 weeks or over.

Is he normally considerate of your needs? Or is this fairly typical behaviour?

Ok, you go to the pub next Friday and see how he likes it.

What a knob! Good luck for tomorrow though, I was induced with my second, it came on quite suddenly and my waters broke in the pre labour ward so don't be afraid to shout for attention!

It does seem really inconsiderate.

You won't be able to have a proper chat about this tonight though. Try to get some sleep (he can take the sofa) and broach this tomorrow before you head off to the hospital.

Yep he's an idiot.

How much help us he going to be with a stinking hangover when you are induced!?!

Twerp.

I'm 39+3 and the last week has been utterly horrific but the end is near!! Bloody love the idea of going to the pub next week. Yup, see how much he likes it. He's normally really considerate which just makes this all the more annoying.

YANBU and I would be very angry with him.

As twattish as he's been though, try not to let it ruin your night. You need a good rest tonight of all nights!

Banish him to the spare room maybe??

Good luck for tomorrow and huge congratulations in advance Flowers

Fucking arsehole. Absolute arsehole. I wouldn't even wake him up tomorrow I'd just go myself. I was induced recently-I was so nervous. He's a prick. God I'm so so angry for you.

Oh and good luck for tomorrow-walk as much as you can and take some books/magazines to keep you occupied. Flowers

Yanbu. Could you wake him up in the morning by hoovering near his side of the bedroom tomorrow morning?

I was induced with my second and honestly it was way better than natural labour for me. 1.5 hours compared to 36 - no contest! Good luck for tomorrow Flowers

Thanks ladies, nice to know I'm not being a mentalist for once. Going to go to bed and try and sleep (he is so in the spare room) and I think I'll get sweet revenge tomorrow. Oh yes I will!!

Bloody love the idea of going to the pub next week.. You might now, but I have a strong suspicion you'll reconsider when you have a 6 day old baby Grin.

If this is not typical of him, maybe give him a pass on it on this one occasion, but do not tolerate any more arseish behaviour. I still can't believe he's drinking anything at all this close to your due date, though. Does he think that because you're being induced tomorrow, this magically precludes you from going into labour tonight? Have you not decided as a couple that he shouldn't have been drinking anything for the last couple of weeks?

Agree YAVDNBU but good luck with induction tmw (if not before) and congrats on finally meeting your longed for bean. Shovel a hell of a lot of water into him and tell him not to even think of moaning about a hangover in the morning or you'll get one of those contraptions that simulate labour pains they have for men! 🍼🍼💐💐

He's a complete knob!! I'm actually so angry for you. The night before I got induced if my OH had gone to pub I would have been so so angry! And I was only 37+4!!!

He is in the wrong but I would let it go.
Just concentrate on the baby good luck ,

Not being a mentalist for once? What behaviours usualy define you as a mentalist?

Report
FeckingTwatBadger · 22/07/2016 22:57

Oh poor you. I'd be furious. He's been a twat but - if this is not normal behavior for him - chances are it's because he's bricking it. Obviously, that's no excuse, but may help you understand why he's behaved like this. If he's a generally decent bloke, he'll be very apologetic tomorrow and will spend the next few months - no, strike that, the rest of his life! - making it up to you by being a hands-on doting dad and husband. Good luck tomorrow!
