Posting in here for traffic, hope that's ok.

Had a rough few weeks and have been diagnosed as having PTSS and mild depression.

Looking for some support or for anyone who has been told they have Post Traumatic Stress Disoder and who has had CBT?

I've had one session and so far it's done more to upset me and wondering what to expect going forward from anyone who has done it?

Any kind and supportive words much appreciated as feeling abit down about it all
X

I'm currently doing the Time to Talk online therapy as self referred after a traumatic episode with my dad and childhood

Different things work for different people. Some people will have had CBT and think it's great, others not so much. IME, I found CBT helped me HUGELY but I also found the process quite challenging and by extension of that, upsetting. I did feel it was worth persevering with though and I'm glad I did. IMO I think you'll need more than one session to be able to say whether you'll find it helpful. Best of luck.

Yes, I had 5 sessions. First 2 I cried through out the whole session and the following weeks were pretty rough too. Then something clicked and it all started to feel better. By the last week I was like a new person. I'd suffered for 15 years and all it took was 5 hours of CBT. My advice would be stick it out for a bit longer, if it doesn't help try something else.

Thank you.
The sessions are only 30 mins and the first one was just trying to explain what happened etc.
Not entirely sure what CBT is. I think it's meant to try and help you find a different way of thinking?
I had hypnotherapy the other week and felt instantly better but then I got this appointment for time to talk and then felt that all the hypnotherepy a hard work was a waste as I felt upset again

Ime you need to work through the upset before you start to feel better. It's hard but there isn't a magic wand. CBT sort of re set my mind set.
