another parking one (sorry) help!?

I'm fuming, I really am. I parked near the station, so I appreciate that people need to catch transport in a hurry, etc. it wasn't the station car park though, so people really cannot assume that they are going to be there all day, I only went shopping with 2 DC. We get back to the car to find this. That car is touching our car, there is no way for me to get out. The back of my car is next to a fence/wall but there's a small gap, but there's no way I can move without that car coming back.

Of course I don't know how long the person will be gone, but we waited near the car for about 20 mins so they weren't just popping into the shop, basically the gap is far too small for the car to fit in.

We are now sitting in Pret having lunch, and probably longer as there is no where for us to go.

Where do I stand with this?? Can I get out??

Is your car the white 4 x 4?

Is there any space in front of the car that blocked you in ? How much space do you have at the back ?

There's some space in front of the car and there's about 30 cm between my car and the fence/wall

Blimey, yanbu. That's quite a twattish thing to do. I'd leave a note on their car telling them how much of a twat they've been by essentially blocking you in.

No, I'm definitely allowed to park here. It's not in front of a house.

That is shocking, people can be so selfish and ignorant. I hope they return very soon. Not sure what you can do about it.

Are there any restrictions to parking on the road? Time of day or length of time..etc?

Wowzer! Are there any businesses/buildings around? Can you go and ask if anyone knows the car owner?

It might be worth phoning 101 for advice. Their car is touching yours so could it possibly be counted as a hit and run?

What a prick. Who does that?

Contact the police on the non-emergency number with the other driver's registration details.

I had the same and I'll admit that I called 101 as I had no idea who to call or what to do! Turned out in my case that the car in front hadn't put their handbrake on so their car had rolled back into mine and stayed there. They tried to get hold of the owner for me and when that failed they managed to source some bricks from a building site nearby, wedge them under the wheels and helped me get out. I had a little more room at the back but not much more and we managed to get it out.

It's not a hit and run! It's a badly parked car Hmm

If you have 30cm behind you, you can drive out, it may take a few backwards and forwards but it's not impossible, I drive a big 4x4 so every space is tiny in comparison to my car and sometimes needs must.

Have you checked the car that has blocked you in hasn't left the handbrake off and rolled into you?

Have they done any damage to your car? have you tried calling council parking enforcement see what they suggest?

I also think you could try a bit of back and forth, 30cm is nearly a foot. Worth a shot surely?

I would ring 101 and ask what you should do. I wouldn't be waiting for the person to move I would be proactive about giving the other driver as much hassle as possible!

There's a curb just before the fence behind me though, so it's just under around 30 cm, I honestly don't think I'll get out... I've not had this car long.

Thanks for the advice

I'll add that 101 were really great about it, the police officers were really lovely and helpful and when they saw car seats in my car they were quite concerned about whether I needed to pick children up from school and offered to arrange a way for me to pick up the kids if we couldn't get my car out! (Unfortunately it wasn't my day to do a pick up!)
