AIBU?

AIBU to want some kind of compensation from ASDA after they ruined most of my weekend?

Have been awaiting a call from Asda customer service since Sunday...
Changed recently from Sainsbury's to save money - large order was supposed to arrive between 7-9 on Sat night - enough to last a week so I didn't have to take 3 year old to supermarket or shop in my lunchbreak. Also had plans to go out after delivery to see a friend (neighbour was going to babysit for a couple of hours)
At 925 order hadn't arrived. No text or phone call to apologise. I got fed up & cancelled the order as I wanted to go out. By the time I'd cancelled on the phone, my neighbour said it was too late to come over & friend fed up with waiting for me so cancelled my rare opportunity to go out.
Went to bed. Was just drifting off at 1020 when loud bang at the door & Asda delivery was there! Was so annoyed & didn't have energy to put it away so said I'd cancelled & went to bed. Sunday morn had to drag daughter round co-op instead of going to park.
Rang asking a manager to call me back twice now. No call. Offered a voucher for free delivery when I spend £40. No thanks. Sorry for essay but anyone agree I should get some sort of half decent apology/compensation for all the time wasted & impact on my life/daughter's life & friend/neighbour being annoyed?

I agree with the first part, very annoying that the delivery was late - but I'm sorry, you can't blame them for having to go shopping on Sunday when you refused the delivery!
The manager not phoning you back isn't great - that would really annoy me.

Do it came and you sent it away? I think you cut your nose off to spite your face there.

If you have 3 year old I assume you weren't taking her out with you at 9pm so couldn't whoever was babysitting just take in the order?

YABU

These things happen, drivers can get delayed. Your shopping showed up at not a totally unreasonable hour and you turned it away.

Not their fault you cancelled the delivery and sent the driver away. I agree that the babysitter could have taken it in for you

YABU.

Yes, seriously annoying about the laconic contact/late delivery. But then it arrived and you sent it away.

Your neighbour was going to babysit from 9pm (presumably, as you had booked slot up until 9) but then 9.30 was too late to come over, and you were in bed and exhausted by 10.20? Wasn't ever going to be much of a night out, was it?

Sending the shopping away was silly, given the absolute pain of dragging a reluctant 3 year old round the supermarket for a big shop.

And why couldn't your babysitter take in the delivery and put away essentials (eg fridge stuff?) - that's what I always ask of mine - essential cold stuff away, then leave the rest for me to sort when I get back.

Don't be ridiculous.

Compensation? Yabu, and grabby. So it didn't come at the exact time, these things happen. You then behaved childishly when it did turn up. Your choice to drag your child around the next day, you shouldn't be compensated for that.

If you were planning to go out for a couple of hours, that takes you to around 11pm, so you were planning to be up at least that late anyway; yet you were too tired to put a couple of frozen/chilled bits away at 10.20pm? (the ambient stuff could easily have sat on the side overnight)

Sorry, but you are being a bit U and nose off/spite face as pp says. I agree having to take a kid shopping can be a PITA, but it's hardly cruel and unusual torture.

It's not U to expect a call back, but ruined your whole weekend? Really?

Why did you send the shopping away? Yabu

Overreaction, much? YABU. These things happen. Tesco usually offer me a £5 if there really late which I'm more than happy with.

Total pain in the neck they were nearly an hour and a half late BUT to say that ruined your whole weekend is unreasonable. You cancelled and then sent the food away.
How were you offered a voucher of no one has spoken to you?! Confused

Yabu because it turned up and you sent it away

Yanbu to be annoyed but yabu to expect compensation

If this has ruined your whole weekend you need to get a life

Yabu , why did you refuse it throw the cold stuff in freezer/ fridge and leave rest till morning. Going shopping with a 3 year old is not the end of the world.

I feel more sorry for the Asda delivery driver an hour and a half late in going home presumably on a Saturday night. And then being met by a stroppy mare.

A complete pain, I get that bit, but you should have accepted it, then politely called the next day to complain, you'd have got a voucher or money off your next shop or whatever.
definitely a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face aswas said above.

Christ on a bike! You can't be serious? It would have taken 20 minutes max to put it away. Asda don't owe you anything.

A nuisance for sure but you created about 90% of the hassle by turning the delivery man away. It wouldn't have taken any time at all to put it away.

Oh I get that this is annoying but they will have to chuck most of the fresh food order away so hopefully they will have learned their lesson.

We once had a Hello fresh order (previously loved them) turn up 2 days late. I was really pissed off about that, when it did arrive it looked like it had been dropped in a swamp.
They did fully refund but they had buggered up my meal plans for the week and I still haven't forgiven them, we use Gousto now.

Have to say Ocado and Iceland have never let us down.

Have you lost any limbs? are you still living???? I'm afraid if not then you shouldnt have sent the delivery man packing, these things happen sometimes and thats it, compensation!!! lmao

Really really annoying that it came so very late.

But WTF did you send it away for? It would have taken 5 mins to out the fridge and freezer stuff away and everything else could have been done in the morning. What a silly thing to do.

I don't think you're being unreasonable. They should have called to ask if you wanted it delivered late. Either way you should get some kind of token by way of apology - a £20 voucher or similar.

I bought about eight post-surgery bras from Asda in April as I had to have a mastectomy and didn't know what my new size would be. I returned six of the bras a few weeks later but the money was never refunded to my account. I have sent three emails with copies of the paperwork and telephoned once and was promised an urgent call back once they had investigated. It's about three weeks later and I've heard nothing. They owe me about £30 but I really don't want to go through the whole thing again on the phone. Instead, I'll never shop at Asda again and will bad mouth them at every opportunity....hence the hijacking of your thread.....sorry. Blush

Asda deliveries are shite. Use Morrisons - cheap prices but Ocado service, winner!

Thanks for your replies!
Ha. Maybe I need to get out more (I'm a very tired single parent who gets tired very early in the eve-1020 is late 4 me! Was only going round to see a friend for a short time.
I sent the order away as I was so tired & pissed off.
My main annoyances are
They didn't call/text to say they would be late
They haven't called me when I've asked them to twice
They sent me a generic email offering the voucher
Really wanted to have a lazy Sunday with my daughter. Supermarket shop was annoying!
Looks like you all think I'm being totally OTT so I probably am!
