So house guest decides to cook. Shows dh the recipe and is checking off ingredient list together. Recipe has ingredient on that dh knows I absolutely hate in food.
He obviously knows this as when I smell it and ask if it's got it in dh laughs and pretends it hasn't and house guest looks sheepish and says they were just following instructions.

Not only do I hate the taste of this stuff but it smells strong so now I am sitting in my room unable to go find something else.

Dh thinks that I'm rude no doubt.
Aibu to refuse it and sulk in my room? It's late here. I'm annoyed that he's let someone cook food I detest and I'll have to go find more food.

Don't eat it then.

I think you are being a little madam with regards the smell though. Very dramatic reaction to take yourself off to your room.

elelfrance Tue 19-Jul-16 11:33:01

you don't have to eat it, but find something else cheerfully
i think you are being rude hiding in your room when you have guests

user1468488303 Tue 19-Jul-16 11:33:49

You are rude. Also possibly a 7 year old.

gamerchick Tue 19-Jul-16 11:34:51

Yeah you're being very rude to your house guest acting the way you are. Its not their fault and you need to get over yourself quickly.

JinkxMonsoon Tue 19-Jul-16 11:36:20

Depends what the ingredient is, really.

AnUtterIdiot Tue 19-Jul-16 11:36:33

Yes, you're being really silly. Sorry.

TheCatAteMyHomework Tue 19-Jul-16 11:36:41

Just for context. I do a lot of the cooking and had spent time yesterday cooking a meal for everyone so this is not a case of me not ever cooking.
I went for a bath when the conspiring occurred and it feels deliberate.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys Tue 19-Jul-16 11:36:58

What food is it?
Fish?
Onions?

Simmi1 Tue 19-Jul-16 11:38:22

Agree - very over-dramatic over something so minor!

user1468488303 Tue 19-Jul-16 11:38:25

So now its a conspiracy to get at you deliberately? hmm

acasualobserver Tue 19-Jul-16 11:38:26

Out of interest, what's the ingredient?

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant Tue 19-Jul-16 11:39:06

Curry /curry powder?

I would be annoyed too.

whois Tue 19-Jul-16 11:39:49

Well, DP hates a certain ingredient. To the extent the smell makes him feel sick. I wouldn't cook it when he's around, or let a houseguest suggest to cook it.

TheCatAteMyHomework Tue 19-Jul-16 11:40:46

This is my house guest a's i theyre staking with ua for a few weeks. The stuff stinks and to me is revolting. I'm usually fine with smells but it's an overpowering spice. Smells and tastes like you're eating dettol

NeedACleverNN Tue 19-Jul-16 11:41:02

FuckyNell Tue 19-Jul-16 11:41:56

TheCatAteMyHomework Tue 19-Jul-16 11:43:14

Great typos.
Well yes I was in the bath and heard the ingredient being read out then something about me..then I come out and say I can smell it and it's 'oh it's not in...what are you talking about... ha ha'. I say you know how much I hate it so why would you let my guest make it?

TheCatAteMyHomework Tue 19-Jul-16 11:44:02

And it was spicy which means dc can't eat it which dh will have known as well.
Just a piss take
