Well that really, muslims are being radicalised around the world in Saudi funded Islamic schools. Saudi Arabia is funding mosques in UK, France and Germany.

Islam can be peaceful and loving, but Wahhabism isn't. We can't keep being attacked we need to stop Saudi Arabia who is the root of all radicalisation. Im not saying military action, but we need to stop appeasing the Saudi's.

My DH is muslim and detests the whole set up in Saudi Arabia (he has been there). He also hates the way wahhabism is seen by some as the reality of all islam. In his home country women drive, go to the beach, manage to survive without being chaperoned , etc. I am hoping low oil prices will reduce the financial muscle of the Saudi Government.

I completely agree but I'm not sure what the answer is.
Was saying on the Paris attack thread that Islam has been practiced in such a diverse way globally and, terror attacks aside, it's saddening to see hundreds of years of people's culture and traditions steamrollered by an ultra-conservative monolith.

But We celebrate our freedom that has also allowed growth of extreme Islam in Europe that has been fuelled and funded from Wahhabism. We either have to take the step of saying no extreme Islam it has no place in our progressive society (as France has tried to do) or we allow the right of freedom to practise religion to whatever degree you feel is right for yourself as long as you are not harming others

Good point. The booming US (soon to be followed by UK) shale gas industry is a worrying development (and the reason the oil prices are being kept so low. OPEC is desperate to prevent shale gas exploitation by making it look unprofitable when the price of oil is so low).

Once the US has no need of Saudi Oil, it will have no interest in stability in the Middle East. In fact the less stable the better as international oil prices would go up making the US self-sufficiency in energy a very big deal.

Of course, with no need to suck up to the US, the Saudis are probably going to say "Right. No more Mr. Nice guy ..."
