No. Unless you want to, but it's definitely not traditional.

I would never have mash with a roast dinner, just roast potatoes

NoCakeLeft · 14/07/2016 18:48

I don't see, why would you need both?

My mum has always done both, DH's family didn't.

I don't bother with 2, it's either/or.

I do too (greedy).

Only roasties in this house.

BUT, if I were at someone else's and they had both, I'm sure I could find space for some mashed potatoes as well 😊

What do you all have on your roasts?

My mum always did both types as did everyone I knew so we'd have the meat, roasts, mash, veggies and perhaps stuffing or Yorkshire puddings too.

You don't need both but they're so nice!

Dhs mum never did both but now they've come round to my way of thinking and they always do both.

Yes to both!

Unless you're my mum who does roasts, mash AND boiled Charlotte potatoes, full choice of veg, two meats and both stuffing and Yorkshire puddings irrespective of what the meats are.

Bloody love it!

No. One kind of potato only. (Roasted, cos it's a roast.)

My mum does mash, roasts and potato croquettes. It's a triple carb coma!
It's a huge pyramid shaped plate of food but only once every few months. When I start doing a roast when the kids are a bit older I'll be sensible and have one type. Maybe.

Ah but you don't roast all your vegetables, do you? We only roast certain veg and steam the rest so that logic doesn't work.

Never. But I have friends who do. They are all northern originally, is it a regional thing?

Report
RaspberryOverload · 14/07/2016 18:55

My mum is the only person I know who does both.

I never do. Roasties only.

Sometimes we have mash & roasts & boiled.

Report
RiverTam · 14/07/2016 18:57

Never ever mash with a roast. We sometimes had boiled and roasties, but never mash. Mash is with sausages.

No of course not.
