AIBU to think this CBBC game to teach 7-11yr olds touch typing is incredibly sexist and to want to do something about it

Hello all
I was trying to find a touch typing tutor for my teens and I came across this CBBC game called Dance Mat typing for 7-11 year olds which I think is incredibly sexist and offensive, the women/girl characters are grossly stereotypical with huge lipstick lips and batting eyelids and girly voices. I know it is cartoonlike but please, do we not expect better for our children! IMO this should not be acceptable in a learning setting! I have complained to BBC.
here is the link
www.bbc.co.uk/guides/z3c6tfr and here is link to complain if you wish to
www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/complain-online/
Thanks

You know one of the females is a hippo?

And another appears to be a cat with no lipstick and a perfectly respectable jumper?

Seems fine to me I'm trying level 1 and it's a goat? Don't see the issue....

I was all ready to be up in arms... until I saw the hippo with lipstick.

I haven't clicked the link but the replies are very amusing and I don't think I need to now.

I also want to learn touch typing but thought I'd have to do a course so now know I can look online, thanks OP.

FGS!

Children of both sexes love it!

I hate to tell you but I actually used it in school to teach typing.

The only annoying part is the talking so I made sure they all wore headphones.

Level one has a male goat and a male cockerel. There's an octopus wearing a flower.

Level 3 has a male bull in lederhosen. That's kind of anti-Austrian, perhaps.

So, two female characters, one of which has lipstick and eyeliner on.

And you want people to complain about that?

Really?

Technically, the hippo could be a transwoman, or a gender-non-conforming male hippo. Perhaps the voice is clearly female, but hippo bodies don't have much of a sexual dimorphism, I think ...

The "gender-markers on female animals" and "male as default" thing gets on my nerves, and I understand perfectly why it annoys you, but sadly, the baseline level of accepted sexism is so high that those things don't really upset anyone who is used to the mainstream.

Complaining is the first step, so that the producers of such games know the reasons when you start the boycott.

hahahahaha!

Usually I'm first with the "sexism is a problem even if it's very minor" but this is too minor even for me.

'Outraged' Grin.

Hope you managed to get some work done, and you all weren't too busy 'furiously googling' the complaints department/Daily Mail....

If you go and repost on the feminist board you'll get far far more people agreeing with you.
