Need better material than 'my baby is growing up and I feel sad'

It's called life.

Now jog on

Mummy bloggers give me the rage. They all think that whatever happens to them has either never happened to any parent before, or that if it has happened to everyone else that they have some sort of unique insight that none of the rest of us considered.

YAWN!

And where do they get the time to blog?

After a jam packed day with two pre schoolers the last thing I'd want to do is relive it all by writing about it!

It's a fucking epidemic atm

'Never again will i see the tiny sliver of drawl smeared across his soft and rosy cheek waaaaaail '

Why read if you don't like the mummy blog genre?

You have things called eyes, you can swivel 'em to look elsewhere. Try that.

Just don't read it. I manage to avoid them.

Ahhhh! I usually do avoid it. But people have taken to copying and pasting particular sentimental nonsense into Facebook posts along with photos of their babies. Harder to totally ignore.

There is one very easy solution to help you not get angry about those mummy blogs...

I couldn't think of anything more dull than reading one of those sorts of things. I can see that someone might find it helpful to write a blog in the way that a diary is useful for working out your feelings about something. Are they actually harming anyone? No. Just don't read them.

Not that I blame them for having been sucked in. But they have been sucked in

If this is the only offensive thing on your Facebook feed you are very lucky. The sentimental stuff makes me want to vomit but it's better than Britain First for example.

Being sentimental isn't a new thing. It's just easier to share how you're feeling now with all sorts of people who don't really particularly want to know.

I actually think it's worse than just being sentimental. It's not encouraging people to move on with their lives, enjoy the children at the next stage and WHY THE FUCK IS IT JUST AIMED AT MOTHERS

Just hide the posts from your news feed, or unfollow the offenders. That way you will still be friends with them bur won't have to see the shit they post.

There's some blogs written by mothers, about motherhood, that I really like, but they tend to be more humorous and warts and all about the whole thing. A lot of the sentimental ones are just virtue signalling as far as I can see. You love your kid. Very much. More than the heat of 10,000 suns. Well done, here's a Biscuit.

Because it's written by mothers?

Hurrah For Gin is quite a good mummy blog...

That doesn't explain it! Don't dads also 'suffer' (ahem) from these emotions? Shouldn't they be revelling in them too?

I have blocked a couple, they are tedious. I blocked one where the mother is just sweary and drunk most of the time (and proud of it!) warbling on about her antics. Masses of followers - WTAF?!? And her children can read this, must be mortified!

But surely you could say that of anybody/any writer? Journalists need better things to write about than the news - it's called life. Novelists need better things to write about than fiction - it's called life. etc. etc.

I can get through years without encountering a genre of internet content that bores me, so it doesn't bother me that somewhere, out there, there are blogs about weevil breeding/paleo-vegan-Jain baking/naked mountain biking in Montana.

You might find fewer Mummy bloggers come your way if you don't come to sites with names like Mumsnet. Tenuous as it might seem, there is actually a connection. Mummy blogs have been a thing now for at least 15 years, btw.

Are you feeling a bit jealous Wink

I wouldn't mind a decent "mummy" blog if it was about a mum who I could relate to. I.e I work and have two children and it's all a bit of a juggle trying to maintain a career.

However I suspect those mums are too busy.
