The pettiest debate ever

Me and dh have just had a debate over.......

Hotdogs grin

He says it should go roll, onions and the sausage on top

I said its bread, sausage and then onions on top.

So entertain me and tell me what is the correct way of assembling the hot dog.

I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter as it goes into your mouth all at once but damn it, it's the principle!

UmbongoUnchained Thu 07-Jul-16 16:02:05

Onions on top.

is he from Mars?!?!

kelper Thu 07-Jul-16 16:02:09

Bread, sausage, onions, american mustard smile

Patterkiller Thu 07-Jul-16 16:02:11

Bread sausage onions. He's wrong

nothanksbyenow Thu 07-Jul-16 16:02:42

You completely missed out the tomato sauce & mustard. I don't think I can take this issue seriously.

WhooooAmI24601 Thu 07-Jul-16 16:02:57

He is being ridiculous. Has he had a drink?

Queenbean Thu 07-Jul-16 16:02:59

Aesthetically, it's your way

But for pure taste and lack of mess, it's his way. With ketchup and mustard on the bun before onion then sausage on top. With more ketchup and mustard

ThatsMyStapler Thu 07-Jul-16 16:03:25

If you put onions on first, they don't fall off....

HoneyDragon Thu 07-Jul-16 16:03:36

It's better with onions underneath. I'm with your dh.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule Thu 07-Jul-16 16:03:38

Bread sausage onions

The onions are a garnish along with the mustard.

Vixster99 Thu 07-Jul-16 16:04:09

sausage on top. that way the onions are less likely to fall off before it gets to your mouth.

(but I hate them anyway)

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut Thu 07-Jul-16 16:05:09

I don't like onions.

hazeyjane Thu 07-Jul-16 16:08:29

god god, it goes....

bun, sausage, onions with mustard/ketchup on top.

as every civilised person knows

Ineedmorelemonpledge Thu 07-Jul-16 16:08:29

Split the bun across the top.

Squeeze mustard and/or ketchup down the bun crack wink

Add sausage then drizzle mustard and/or ketchup on the sausage in a zigzag.

Add onions. Boiled or fried, not those dried monstrosities they use in Europe sometimes.

NeedACleverNN Thu 07-Jul-16 16:08:38

See we compromise in the end.

who ever serves, serves it the way that person likes. So I'll it his way for him and my way for me.

Still a good debate though

ifherbumwereabungalow Thu 07-Jul-16 16:08:38

Bread, onions, sausage, MORE onions, squiggly line of ketchup, squiggly line of American mustard. Has to be squiggly or the entire meal is ruined.

NeedACleverNN Thu 07-Jul-16 16:09:41

Oh don't even mention splitting the bun!!

Forgot about that part!

He used to slit it on its side. Nooooo you always cut the top!

HuskyLover1 Thu 07-Jul-16 16:11:07

I've always put the onions on top....but what a great idea to put them on the bun first - no more spillage!

gamerchick Thu 07-Jul-16 16:12:45

Practically his way is best mess wise. Nobody can eat one of those things cleanly.

hazeyjane Thu 07-Jul-16 16:15:14

practical doesn't come in to it. You are supposed to have a bit of mustardy ketchup dribbling down your chin and your arm. It's what makes hotdogs the ideal first date food.

MadeForThis Thu 07-Jul-16 16:47:21

Onions underneath. Less wastage.

Nuggy2013 Thu 07-Jul-16 16:48:32

You're right. LTB.

WorraLiberty Thu 07-Jul-16 16:51:31

Onions on top

Pack his bags and leave them on the drive, right this minute.

NarcyCow Thu 07-Jul-16 16:52:06

I wrap a slice or bread around the whole thing. Keeps it contained much better.

Boiled onion, though? What depravity is this?

RaptorInaPorkPieHat Thu 07-Jul-16 17:17:32

Onions underneath, then ketchup, then sausage.

It's so much neater.

<really wants hotdogs now> grin
