This year has brought the amazing combustible fridge freezer. That theyrequested I keep in situ for over two weeks until and engineer could look at it. Even though smoke was coming out of it after it went bang.

They couldn't do sooner as they were very busy with their flammable tumblr dryers.

They were fucked off that I refused to comply and had to buy a new one.

Then I got a letter in regards to my 6 month old tumble dryer saying that wanted me dead too.

Called them. Gave them model number. They congratulated me on owning a non murderous tumble dryer.

This week. Whoops sorry we were wrong about that model number. You're tumble dryer is a hateful flammable bastard just like your fridge was.

Don't worry though we'll send an engineer out to you asap to stop it wanting to kill you. The engineer will be with you in at least months.

AIBU? Hotpoint actually hate me don't they?

HoneyDragon Tue 05-Jul-16 20:30:14

At least TWELVE months.

Daffodil90 Tue 05-Jul-16 20:34:41

Wow. That's pretty shocking. 12 months?!

HoneyDragon Tue 05-Jul-16 20:36:08

That's what they're quoting now to modify them, yep. Scary really.

Daffodil90 Tue 05-Jul-16 20:49:43

So in the mean time just go ahead and blow yourself up! hmm

Hope it's much quicker than that for you! Or maybe it's time to crack out the credit card!

wine for you!

Tumble dryer is only 9 months old can't afford a new one. I'm not friends with the Indesit group anymore the bastards.

ShatnersBassoon Tue 05-Jul-16 20:55:45

They're certainly trying to test your flame-retardance. They're swines, particularly for taking a gamble on the tumble dryer inferno.

TheChippendenSpook Tue 05-Jul-16 21:00:24

My tumble dryer was less than a year old so I pestered them on Twitter. That got a quick response and they replaced it with a new one.

HoneyDragon Tue 05-Jul-16 21:06:33

It's annoying in though, they literally couldn't give a shit, making people having to use social media. Glad you got sorted smile

I'll try Twitter ...but it's disgusting how little they care about people.

sepa Tue 05-Jul-16 21:09:22

12 months minimum. We were told June. Now being told it could be another 6-months.
They will give me a discount on another model though hmm
But if you keep your one and use it (like I do) your house insurance won't pay out of your house does go up in flames as you were warned about it

My DP fixes these tumble dryers, he works for a company that Hotpoint have contracted out the fixes to. He does a lot of them. He says don't leave it running when you go to bed or go out. He also said though that sometimes Hotpoint get the models with the issues wrong, so wonders what model number yours is and he should know.
In case that helps at all.

Mamabear14 Tue 05-Jul-16 21:41:31

Get onto them on Twitter. Mine melted my plug socket after they told me it would be fine to use, I complained loudly on Twitter and they sent someone out within 2 weeks, and paid for my replacement socket. I did have to ask for that though.

Stylingwax Tue 05-Jul-16 21:44:07

He also says if you look in the drum at the back there are lots of holes. Above one of the holes there should be a screw head, if there's a screw head the issue has been corrected already because something's been attached to stop the fluff collecting at the back which is causing the fires. (Sorry I'm crap at explaining but he says it should be really obvious tho you'll need a torch).

HoneyDragon Tue 05-Jul-16 22:04:55

Oh brilliant I'll have a look in the morning. They are adamant it's duff though.

Problem is I don't want to be bumped over some other poor sod. I just want them to actually at like they care that they've put not one but two dangerous items in my home confused they've already admitted liability so why not at least apologise even if they won't resolve it?

BluePitchFork Tue 05-Jul-16 22:08:24

that's why they are (comparably) cheap.
you get what you pay for imo.

HoneyDragon Tue 05-Jul-16 22:22:46

£400 is not cheap. Even comparably.

HoneyDragon Tue 05-Jul-16 22:23:20

And fridge of death was £650 on sale.

DoNotBlameMeIVotedRemain Wed 06-Jul-16 03:28:35

My parents are on the massive waiting list too. I think it's completely unacceptable to take so many months to sort. I'd be disgusted if there was a fire And insurance refused to pay out.

SylvieB74 Wed 06-Jul-16 03:48:43

I rang and gave the model no. Of ours and they said 'you'll be happy to know it's not affected!' I said that I want a letter saying that because the insurance probably wouldn't pay out when it burns tha house down, he said 'ok I'll just check it again... Oh it's coming up as affected now?!' F ing unbelievable! They've offered to modify it next year.

HoneyDragon Wed 06-Jul-16 15:50:43

That's disgusting ..... I wonder how many people have been told their dryers are safe, when they aren't?

TaliZorahVasNormandy Wed 06-Jul-16 15:56:16

My mum as the tumble of death too. They said May, now its probably next year. She uses it as little as possible. Bloody Hotpoint.

Nibledbyducks Wed 06-Jul-16 15:59:26

I registers mine for repairs a couple of days after they publicised the issue, I got a repair date of April 2017!

HoneyDragon Wed 06-Jul-16 16:03:30

After the fridge debacle and they way they behaved I reckon it they'll just decide they're safe after all

PaulDacresMicroPenis Wed 06-Jul-16 16:08:10

Colleague had an engineer out to fix her death trap dryer a few weeks ago, guy was chatting on about how busy he was since his firm got the contract to do these, then he whizzed off to his next appointment...
and of course her dryer didn't work properly after so another engineer had to come round a week later and connect up the things he had left dangling around inside!

MetalMidget Wed 06-Jul-16 16:27:09

Wait, what?! I knew about the Michael Bay tumble dryers, didn't know they also did flammable fridges!

If it's any consolation (as you burn to a fiery crisp), the phrase "hateful flammable bastard" made me laugh...
