Ok, what are people meant to say to denote 'lightheartedness'? I find if they do not, and it doesn't come across, it leads to a thread full of arguments between those who 'get it' and those who don't. Don't get me started on accidentally opening one of those awful 'Aibu from baby/dog point of view', those need to be highlighted from 10 miles away.

I always find these threads bemoaning 'naff and cutesy language' ironic, considering the site is infamous use of prefixing the nauseating 'dear' to all personal nouns .

Right now, I'm having trouble distinguishing between responses on the EU that are light hearted or serious. I can't tell if the poster is being very serious or is taking the piss in their comment.

I tend to avoid threads that have 'lighthearted' in the title. I do think that posting everything and anything in the joke topic that is AIBU doesn't help though.

I avoid "lighthearted" threads like the plague too.

It's always "don't kids say the funniest things" type of stuff like that TV show that was on years ago.

You'll never see a "lighthearted" thread getting into Classics,thats for sure.

I agree with others, on paper you should be able to figure it out (I remember your thread Emo, it was ridiculous that people took it seriously). However, sometimes it is difficult to read tone/sarcasm in writing, and some people genuinely get afronted by the silliest things (parent and child parking spaces....). I've said before, I think there should be a 'lighthearted' part of the forum, though with a better name obviously.
