Ex leaves 3 year old in car at petrol station. AIBU to be livid?

DD has just told me that daddy always leaves her in the car when he goes in to pay for the petrol.
Can think of a few 'what if's' which might seem extreme & ultimate feel fucked off at his negligence. AIBU to feel this way? Or am I just OTT?

DancingDinosaur Sun 03-Jul-16 11:24:58

hmm OTT

GruffaloPants Sun 03-Jul-16 11:25:26

Seems OTT if she's buckled in. More risk of being hot by a car crossing the forecourt than being engulfed in an explosion.

gobbynorthernbird Sun 03-Jul-16 11:25:31

You're OTT. DC probably much more likely to get hurt walking on the forecourt.

bluenailsblueshoes Sun 03-Jul-16 11:25:38

Completely ott, I have always done this, much safer than dragging them across the forecourt.

DextersMistress Sun 03-Jul-16 11:25:54

Definitely OTT.

SouperSal Sun 03-Jul-16 11:26:14

Off the wall OTT.

gamerwidow Sun 03-Jul-16 11:26:25

OTT it's more dangerous to take them across the forecourt than to leave them strapped in and in view for a few minutes.

OnionKnight Sun 03-Jul-16 11:26:43

Batshit OTT.

Kerberos Sun 03-Jul-16 11:26:48

Wildly OTT

goadyfuckersgetmygoat Sun 03-Jul-16 11:27:10

It's more dangerousness getting them out. Full on ott

ICanSeeForMiles Sun 03-Jul-16 11:27:27

Massively OTT. I've never taken my dc in to pay for petrol.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon Sun 03-Jul-16 11:27:30

Way OTT. I always did this with dd, 99% of other parents seem to do this from what I see.

Euripidesralph Sun 03-Jul-16 11:27:44

Totally ott whilst I understand that it's a hot topic in parenting and many disagree on whether to do it or not you're completely overreacting calling it negligence

Frankly get a grip

MrsSpecter Sun 03-Jul-16 11:27:49

Yes YABU. And ridiculous.

Stiddleficks Sun 03-Jul-16 11:28:35

Very OTT, far safer in the car.

JudyCoolibar Sun 03-Jul-16 11:28:51

There is nothing negligent about this.

Misnomer Sun 03-Jul-16 11:29:08

Yep, OTT.

OutsiderInTheGarden Sun 03-Jul-16 11:30:00

If she's buckled in and the car is locked I don't see the problem. He can, presumably, see her the whole time. I do this with my DS and he's much younger than your DD.

Abraiid1 Sun 03-Jul-16 11:30:34

YABU.

Cookingongas Sun 03-Jul-16 11:31:06

Ott. These aren't the battles you should chose to fight with ex

honeylulu Sun 03-Jul-16 11:31:19

I do this (if I can't pay at pump). I can see the car the whole time.

DameXanaduBramble Sun 03-Jul-16 11:31:26

You are more OTT than a very OTT thing.

Yes, you are OTT

CathemeralChild Sun 03-Jul-16 11:32:10

I have always left DC in the car when paying for petrol.
What do you think might happen?

Numberoneisgone Sun 03-Jul-16 11:32:12

This comes up all the time. There will be many coming on sharing your view in a while, don't worry, but I think what your ex is doing is fine.
