AIBU?

To not bother with summer clothes ever again?

I've realised that huge amounts of my clothes barely warrant wardrobe or drawer space because they get worn maybe once or twice a year and so far this year haven't made it into the daylight.
I'm talking shorts, sleeveless tops, anything linen, summer dresses and as for any kind of swim/tanning wear, forget it.
I might just pack it all into storage a bin bag
This weather sucks!
Off to google how to live in permanently damp conditions and cry into a nice hot toddy, wrapped in a blanket.

Yanbu.

I keep it all in a vac bag. Around May or June, the first sunny day, I open the bag and wear something, and then it rains and the bag just sits there for he rest of the summer, to be sealed up again in September. A few vests, some linen trousers, few pairs of shorts. Most still have the tags on.

My summer and winter clothes are the same.

In the winter I just add boots, vests, coats and scarves.

I'm liking the hot toddy idea though. I love hot chocolate with Baileys.

YANBU. I wore one pair of shorts twice in May. That's it, that's summer. Dresses, sandals, strappy tops all sitting in my wardrobe looking lovely while I sit here in a hoody...

No wonder the sales are so good this year, nobody has bothered restocking summer stuff. You only need it for trips abroad this year. I am mainly recycling last year's and saving my budget for winter stuff. I bought a leather jacket a few weeks ago and have worn it twice already. Unbelievable for where l live, in the normally warm south.

Yep. Ive spent a fortune on dresses & sandals this year and have frozen each time Ive worn them. Ive got the heating on and am drinking cocoa. It's fucking shit.

My friend and i decided a few years ago that you need summer clothes that can be taken on holiday abroad for two weeks....sleeveless tops , shorts etc packed in a suitcase in the attic

And for this country, cropped tousers or skirts, with t shirts you can wear with a cardi or jacket

And thats it Grin

I add a bikini, a sun dress and a few tops to my summer stash each year. It's to wear on holiday. It lives in a zipped laundry bag under the bed and this year I haven't unzipped it yet. I have skirts that are ten years old. Three wears a year mean they should see me out :)

My dh wears exactly the same clothes all year round. God it's annoying.

I wear shorts at the weekend when it's over 16 degrees and it's between April and October. But I'm not very stylish.

I fall for the June weather every year and buy something lovely I wear once...

The weather in the UK is abominable. In my country of origin it's been above 30 degrees for weeks. I have the heating on. It's July. Envy

Summer clothes in a suitcase for the win. That's where ours stay till our annual jaunt to Greece.

Upside is the space saving.

Downside is that all our holiday snaps for the past 17 years sees us in the nigh on same outfits Grin

I wear the same stuff year round and add jumpers socks and boots as needed.
I did wear linen trousers twice this year with sandals and my feet were freezing. I usually save them for sunshine holidays, and pair them with the same tops I wear year round minus the cardies and jumpers.

I too wear the same stuff all year just layered or I add tights with dresses or whatever. I have cropped trousers and jeans that come out in summer but other than that I tend to wear a t shirt in summer on its own or add a cardi in winter.

I have my holiday clothes that are literally for that! They come out when we go away.

That said not worn any of it this summer as I'm 33 weeks preggers at the mo so rotating a capsule maternity wardrobe lol

I have the opposite problem, I live in Germany and we get extremely hot summers here (I mean, compared to Scotland!), but I've no room in my wardrobe as we also get very snowy winters, or so I was informed! The first winter I was here was wonderful with super deep snow, but I was freezing the whole time as I didn't have the right clothes. Well I have since built up an impressive collection of super thick woolly jumpers, thermal leggings and jeans which can actually fit thermal leggings under them... And it has hardly ever snowed in the three years since!

Maybe we should have a trade haha, it's getting so hot here even my summer dresses look too thick :(

There was hail here yesterday. Actual hailstones. In July ffs, hailstones. And a storm. British summer wear - waterproofs and wellies. And a thick jumper.
