Children at ds school have always sent a little sweet or cake for each child on their birthdays as tradition.
Shortly before my ds birthday we had a letter asking parents not to send them in because they're now a healthy school, and also a list of banned lunchbox foods, all fine. Except, between the letter and ds birthday he came home on no less than 3 occasions with sweets from birthdays.
I assumed from that the school weren't bothering with their new rule and didn't want ds to be left out so when ds birthday came round I sent in some fun size chocolates for the class.
They weren't given out on the day but weren't given back to me either. So a few days later I asked a teacher on duty (not his class teacher) and she said they as per the letter school was no longer allowing birthday sweets. I mentioned other times sweets had been sent home and I'd assumed they weren't enforcing it and she told me absolutely no way this had happened I was totally mistaken. I wasn't going to make a fuss and the teacher is so lovely so I just apologised for sending them in and left it at that.
But, since then every month there are still sweets sent home! He's come home with lollies and chocolate 3 times this week from birthdays and someone's term time holiday! Poor ds remembers that he wasn't allowed to give his out.
I know it's a small thing so please don't tell me to get a grip but it's one of those little things that's really bugged me, but I now I'd look petty if I ever said anything.
