Not sure if the page I've seen is the one you meant to link to.

SweetieDrops Wed 29-Jun-16 19:20:10

I don't see a problem with it, what's annoying you?

RhubarbAndMustard Wed 29-Jun-16 19:20:20

Eh? Care to elaborate OP?

Amummyatlast Wed 29-Jun-16 19:20:35

Yes, it's the right page. Look at the pictures.

SnugglySnerd Wed 29-Jun-16 19:21:23

There aren't any pictures apart from that big red logo thing.

T0ddlerSlave Wed 29-Jun-16 19:21:39

Because the boys do the building and the girl does the cleaning? Meh, agree it's bad but at least the other categories aren't gendered. it's so insidious I fail to get worked up about it.

NeedACleverNN Wed 29-Jun-16 19:21:42

There are no picture?

T0ddlerSlave Wed 29-Jun-16 19:22:16

Ah if you view on mobile view you don't see the pics.

Thebookswereherfriends Wed 29-Jun-16 19:23:15

Yep, boy in the construction pic and girl in the cleaning pic. It's shit and shouldn't still be happening.

Amummyatlast Wed 29-Jun-16 19:24:25

Ok, it may not work if you are using a phone.

There's a link to 'building roleplay' toys with a smiling boy. There's a link to 'cleaning roleplay' toys with a smiling girl. The cleaning toys are also pink. To be fair there are then two further pictures for cooking and shopping roleplay with boys and girls, but even on the cooking roleplay the boy is made to look like a chef whereas the girl is not.

LilQueenie Wed 29-Jun-16 19:24:26

please don't tell its because they have a little girl playing with a pink cleaning set and a boy with a construction set because it is yabu and if it's not I apologise.

Amummyatlast Wed 29-Jun-16 19:33:30

Why can't they have a boy and girl in each of the pictures? My DD has actually has cleaning toys, but this is because she likes to pretend to be like her daddy (who does 95% of the cleaning).

LilQueenie Wed 29-Jun-16 20:08:03

some pics have no children in them. Its no big deal. I'm sure it doesn't matter to the chid

imonaplane Wed 29-Jun-16 20:09:24

Oh for God's sake! Have you nothing better to worry about?

PortiaCastis Wed 29-Jun-16 20:11:28

Too much time on your hands

Crispbutty Wed 29-Jun-16 20:13:16

"even on the cooking roleplay the boy is made to look like a chef whereas the girl is not."

but but but... if the girl was doing the cooking, wouldnt you be unhappy with that too... ??

you need to unclench a bit I think.

forkhandles4candles Wed 29-Jun-16 20:13:51

Think it is shit too OP.

MeAndMy3LovelyBoys Wed 29-Jun-16 20:14:38

I'm sorry but I can't get wound up about this at all. I can't see the big deal.

lightmouse Wed 29-Jun-16 20:21:03

It is part of a global trend of stereotyping in society. Kids are really sensitive to this sort of pigeon-holing, and it damages both sexes.

Spartak Wed 29-Jun-16 20:33:34

Here we go. There's a girl sat down eating while the boy does the cooking. I might complaint to Argos that I'm upset that there no one to cook my tea when I get home.

ThoraGruntwhistle Wed 29-Jun-16 20:38:41

It's irritating, and shouldn't really happen, but I don't think I could get too worked up about it.

WineIsMyMainVice Wed 29-Jun-16 22:10:08

This is about what images/perceptions we give our children. In this day and age it shouldn't be this way. Pink cleaning toys teach them that cleaning is for girls. It's rubbish. It seems that gender stereotyping has come full circle - in the 80's / 90's there was a move against pink for girls and blue for boys etc. Now suddenly even kinder eggs are pink for girls etc, Lego has pink for girls etc etc.
