I'm on month two now and I've turned into the antichrist, the saddest person ever like the world is ending, fine again, back to not knowing my a**e from my elbow!!!

Anyone else go a bit crazy on it? I've googled and there is such a thing as The Clomid Crazies.

Sorry but YABU, of course it's a hormone messing bitch, how else do you think it will induce ovulation (which is hormonal.......)

Sympathies. I've not been on Clomid but have had other hormonal issues and it can be such a roller coaster

I was an absolute mentalist on clomid, pretty horrible for me and everyone around.

I'm now 30 weeks pregnant! Stick with it- I think it's a miracle drug.

Yeah, if it didn't change your hormones it wouldn't work... Hopefully since its clearly doing something you'll get your BFP :)

Agree OP! Tollygunge do you mind me asking how many cycles you took to conceive and how many mg? (Sorry to hijack thread!)

Report
Tollygunge · 27/06/2016 11:06

First cycle, 100mg, days 3-7

OP that is how I was on clomid. I also had hot sweats which were so intense I would immediately start stripping. Then there were the visual disturbances.
My clomid baby was 23 last week. I never needed to use it again and went on to have two more babies, baby two first month trying, and baby three third month of trying.
Wishing you all the best.

Oh that's good to know that I'm not alone. I'm on month two of 50mg, I've one more month on 50mg and then we will see. I can't imagine being on 100mg!!

I've had the hot sweats and disturbed sleep. I've also had a lot of dreams about my past. It really is wicked but I guess it's doing what it is meant to.

I don't think my DH gets the effects at all.

Good luck with it. Maybe your GP could advise of something you could take to counteract its worst effects? I hope so!

I took it for a few months. The result is currently on vacation from uni, and expecting me to make him cups of tea, whilst he lazes around upstairs! I love him to bits. It's worth it!

Tell you what, though, I ended up having 5 kids (despite subfertility issues) and only one pregnancy needed Clomid... And that was the awfullest pregnancy, in many ways (I had hyperemesis for 20 weeks, day and night). I have often wondered, even 20 odd years on, whether it was anything to do with the Clomid.

ETA: It's a long time back so I can't remember how I felt when I was on it, and I wasn't on it for long before I conceived (PCOS). But I think I'd remember if it had made me ill. I was doing a really stressful, full-on job at the time (supply teaching in inner city hell holes) and I remember finding work a lot harder. I honestly never put it down to the Clomid, at the time...

YANBU! I was awful when I was on it. Conceived both DS1+2 after three rounds of 100mg. Good luck Op.

Clomid has bloody awful side effects. I was so bad tempered my husband didn't want to come home from work, I got a yeast infection every month, and my eyeballs actually shuddered when I was taking it, I could look in the mirror and watch them flicker up and down. Needless to say, it didn't work for me...

Vixxfacee · 27/06/2016 12:27

I had 3 months of clomid (didn't work) and it was awful. I was so depressed and sad and angry. Ivf was easier believe it or not (in terms of side effects).

I had three cycles and it was awful! Ovulated on cycle 3 and now I have DD.

Good luck!

Clomid wasn't too bad for me. It was the Provera that had me sitting on my hands on the train to make sure I didn't give in and start groping people, it made me that sex-crazed.

I took it for 3 months, nothing happened, and then found I was pregnant 8 months later. Then when I wanted child 2, took it again and got pregnant on month 2. Good luck!

I found my clomid symptoms to be really good practice for the menopause!!

I would have done anything to have babies so to be honest just endured it until it worked. you need to do the same and hopefully fingers crossed it will be all worth it for you.

embrace the symptoms - it means its working.

Place marking for later I might need it in the coming weeks ha ha

I'm on day 3 of my first cycle. Feel okay so far in, but I'm only on CD4 so there's a lot of Month left for that to change Blush

Good luck OP!

I did (cumulatively, for more than one child) 22 months. It made me practically suicidal. Did end up with 2 of my 3 dc that way though. (Third was adopted.)
Good luck OP. Hang in there, it's worth it!

I am a clomid baby! My mum took it to have me in 1983. I hope it works for you soon.

I'll fight anybody when I take clomid. Letrozole was much kinder to me.

Oh yes, Letrozole was much, much better. And we got dd1 from it. Clomid didn't work.
Unfortunately not all trusts will prescribe it though

Clomid gave me side effects but the lab lost my bloods so no idea if it actually worked this month. Going to double the dose next month

Report
SockQueen · 27/06/2016 20:03

It was horrible for me, to the point that I was planning on stopping it after my 2nd cycle (50mg, days 2-5) as I thought it hadn't made me ovulate and wanted extra time to lose weight to help things along. It seems I DID ovulate, just much later than predicted, and luckily had a "just for fun" shag at about the right time, so I'm now 29/40!
