AIBU?

To be disgusted by MN!

MsJamieFraser · 25/06/2016 06:59

Some people need to give their head a wobble and honestly grow the fuck up and stop throwing their toys out the pram.

I understand people are upset and even angry the way the referendum went, however that does not give anyone the right to be vile and abusive!

It's completely unacceptable to tell someone they need "opt out of life" Angry because they choose there democratic right not to vote!

I am ashamed to be apart of this forum today!

MN admin shoud be ashamed of themselves, talk guidelines being broken left right and centre and you're no where to be seen!

Grow the fuck up and stop being unpleasant nasty fuckers! I very rarely swear but this place sickens me to the core of my stomach today!

I hate it when people say "give their head a wobble", it's such a stupid and irritating phrase.

TAAT? I have no idea what you are talking about.

I think people should stop trying to minimise legitimate fears and anger by patting people on the head.

The poster who made the opt out of life comment already apologised for the wording and asked for it to be deleted as she didn't mean it that way (she meat politics is a part of life so if you opt out of it you opt out of life) it was resolved.
Don't let that get in way of your righteous outrage though.

I agree with you op.
I've never been witness to such an outpouring of vitriol on here.
I've avoided posting and had to hide several threads.
The pack wolf bullying and emotive language.
I've never been a spectator to so much self righteous entitled behaviour.
Flowers for everyone who has been on the receiving end of aggressive behaviour over the last day.

YABU imho, because the decision will have long lasting and profound implications for the future of our country and already people will know that their job, or their husband's job, are on the line and they are up for redundancy because of the result, for example. This will have had a hugely negative impact on a lot of lives and this is an Internet forum and people will lash out when they are hurt and angry. It's only natural.

Hmm most of the aggression is coming from the Leave side.

Report
MsJamieFraser · 25/06/2016 07:08

Guilty, what have I got to feel guilt about? Hmm

coolas in a way yes, but not just one thread, about a lot of threads, some of the vitriol I've read is shameful, from both sides of the referendum, I wasn't on here yesterday (well for about 5mins in the AM).

I'm disgusted to be a Mnetter today.

If I'm correct in thinking that you were told off for not voting, I'm afraid you'll have to put up with people telling you to not stick your oar into debates about the aftermath. Everyone knew it was going to be a close result, so even those who supported can be annoyed at abstainers, because the majority was so very slim and not enough to satisfy remainers. (I voted remain).

HTH.

MN is always full of people laying into each other. .usually over minor things in AIBU

Report
branofthemist · 25/06/2016 07:10

I am a remainer. I am more sad about how people (on here, in real life and on social media) are turning on one another.

I have seen some really horrible stuff from both sides. And it's not ok.

Yes I am disappointed. I am upset. But there is no need to be nasty and insulting to each other.

How is it going to help Us on the road ahead?

If that's ok, am I allowed an opinion?

I am afraid OP your post will only bring more vileness.

Those who are dishing out all the insults don't care the biscuit you have been given is only the start. They will continue to berate and bully strangers on the internet because they are angry and scared. I don't think that is an excuse. They are quick to label all those who voted out, calling them a barrage of vile names and making judgement. I wonder if they realise how uneducated, judgemental and scummy they are coming across themselves......but again I doubt they care.

I am as disgusted as you are.

Hide all the EU threads OP. It's the only way.

Report those being genuinely abusive

Read a thread properly before getting on your high horse

Or, you know, get off MN and do something else if you are so sickened with it

Think people should stop trying to minimise legitimate fears and anger by patting people on the head.

I agree completely, however absolutely no need to be vile and abusive with it (general)

Both camps are no better, the comment I read in chat saying the OP needs to Opt out of life is an absolute disgraceful comment.

We must be reading different threads. I repeatedly keep seeing Leavers being told to 'fuck off.' Not aggressive? OK then.
