Following with interest. In the meantime have you looked in the housekeeping (old) threads?

This may help until others post...

I was in this position a few years ago and found that my biggest issue was lack of storage/too much clutter. Might be your problem too? If so, start by decluttering and be brutal. Anything that doesn't have a permanent place gets thrown away. Anything that hasn't been used in the last 6months/year gets thrown away (obviously not passports or anything important!).
Then a deep clean of the house to start fresh and just try to maintain it from there. Sometimes I think everything just builds up and you don't know where to start do you just keep putting it off.
I find tidying as you go helps so you don't let anything build up. So things like putting washing away as soon as it dries rather than building up a huge clean washing pile (disclaimer: I don't practice what I preach on this one!)
Also make sure all members of the household are pulling their (age appropriate) weight!

As you can probably tell, I have no life.

There are a series of Fly lady threads that I used to follow that were really helpful and very supportive. I dropped off them as I found my own rythym iykwim of not cleaning but whenever I see them I'm always reminded how much I've got to do and where I should start again.
I'll look for a link now...

This is the June thread. They have a new one each month. You can join in any time. They're very friendly and will support you and give you small goals and reminders.

Thank you's I'll maybe join the other thread , there is far too much 'stuff' in this house I'm hoping to get a skip when dp gets his wages next month so I can just get rid of everything and then maybe it will clean and tidy not Grin

Buy the Marie Kondo book - the Life changing magic of Tidying. It really is brilliant, and was rubbish at getting my stuff organised. Now I even have a neatly folded knicker drawer but you don't have to go that far

Yes to Marie Kondo! It is so much easier to keep clean now and tidy now.

Marie Kondo is sorting me right out.

Fly lady also gets a good rep, but the relentless emails were a massive turn off for me.

Marie Kondo has made a fortune from common sense & good luck to her!
If it all seems too overwhelming, decide to do your deck utter etc in one day in short bursts, say 25 minutes plus 5 minutes break. In the break don't start anything else that requires mind power or go on a phone/tablet etc. Do no more than 4 of these sessions before stopping for an hour for food/walk/crap telly as you wish
You will get through it! Good luck

Kondo is on my list of things to get round to Blush

But one thing I'm learning that is helping me is that none of the jobs around the house take as long as I think. So dishwasher, putting washing away, picking after the dog has chewed up the tissues again! They mount up very quickly EnvySad but they are also quick to get rid of.

Trouble is I spend so long doing 100 quick jobs I never get round to Kondo!

Hello, I'm the OP of the June Flylady thread linked above. A lot of people use Marie Kondo to kick start and Flylady to maintain. We start a new thread every month and the OP posts links to that day's Flylady tasks so you don't have to sign up for the emails. We are quite relaxed and chatty but the thread does help with keeping routines going, new Flyers are always welcome Smile.
