I've just been behind a woman in a supermarket who was calling her young children some awful names. They were about 10 and 7. From what I saw, the kids were just standing in the queue with her and not really doing anything. She kept referring to them as "oi you fucking dickhead" and screaming at them. In full view of a packed Tesco. Then she continued to scream at them, swearing, as we walked back to our cars. I did take note of her car reg. I know we all have crap days with our kids, but if she talks to them like this in public, what does she tall to them like at home? Aibu to be worried, this isn't normal is it?

Was she actually screaming in the store?

I'm surprised a member of staff didn't call security.

I'm not really sure there's anything you can do at this late stage without witnesses. The CCTV won't have sound on it and tbh, I'm not sure the police would have the resources to deal with a mother swearing at her kids, even if a staff member came forward as a witness.

I know you're right. I just felt so sorry for the kids. They looked really scared and were silent throughout.

It's horrible to see and hear, isn't it? Sad
