Another Office Fridge Problem

I work in a large office, several floors with approx 7 or 8 teams of 10+ people sharing one domestic fridge per floor.

People put lunches, shopping, whatever in the fridges all fine we are all grown ups and know how to share space. Milk is provided by the building and is also kept in these fridges.

Recently things have been stolen from the fridge. Not whole cans or bottles but bites and sips of things.
e.g. A supermarket sandwich in the packet, opened and a big bite taken out of the middle. A can of fizzy drink opened and sips taken about 1/4 of the can. Cheese from someone's supermarket shop, packet opened and a big bite taken!

WHY?! Would any normal adult do this? It is a fairly young office majority of staff between 25-35.
It is not confined to one or two peoples food so not a case of harassment or bullying.

It is super weird and tbh I am more interested in why they are doing it than anything else...

WIBU to buy a spy camera and catch the fridge bandit? Or just lace some food with chilli or laxative?

I should think it's because some idiot in the office thinks it is funny to spoil people's food in this way. I think the Chilli idea is the way to go - you won't need a camera, you'll spot the thief by their bright red face and coughing Grin

Ooh, I second the chili idea, marvellously cunning!

Yeah with a ghost chilli.

It is so random though I would have to be sure that they will definitely eat it.

It is always shop bought unopened food that is targeted so I don't think they would go for a home made chilli brownie or a laxative bap!

Ser up a Web cam. It will be difficult to do the food trap.

Or a big sign on the fridge -

"I have Herpes. I am in a contagious stage at the moment. I have licked all the food I have placed in the fridge.
Whoever has been sharing my food, please go to your GP and get tested as it's very likely you have caught it from eating my saliva that was on my food."

If they are immature enough to take bites out of food, then hopefully they are also stupid enough to get freaked out by this.

Then get everyone else to add post its to the fridge also saying they have licked their food.

Or another one:

"Who has eaten my Sperm/Faecal Sample?"

or

"Who has eaten my child's experiment on bacteria growing on a sandwich?"

Yep - I am bored today Grin

Buy a fab looking sandwich from somewhere like Pret and gently peel open the wrapping, slip the vvvv hot chopped up chilli inside it and gently re-seal it. Good as new! Then let the fun begin.

Fratelli Grin thats brilliant! Might make questions as to why I like my sanpro chilled... refreshing perhaps???

We have had a big influx of new people over the last year to 6 months, so it could easily be someone new but I couldn't pin it on someone exactly.

It is a hot topic and lots of people are talking about it, I am worried about a spate of copycat crimes!

According to our facilities manager it has happened on other floors of the office too! Shock A multi-level bandit!

We have access to meeting rooms on all the floors and the fridge is next to the tea and coffee stand so it wouldn't be weird to see someone from a different floor using the fridge.

Pahaha definitely refreshing!

It sounds as if it's turning into a crime wave!

Years ago food and sandwiches were being stolen out of my friends old office fridge. Turns out it was an older member of staff who didn't want his own cheese sandwiches. Trouble is, he'd made them himself Hmm

It hasn't happened to me yet, I make my lunch at home rather than buy sandwiches.

Maybe I should buy one especially and start practicing my DM sad face for when it gets nibbled!

In all seriousness though it is really disgusting and annoying I would be so cross if someone ruined my lunch because they thought it was funny AngryAngryAngry

You could easily smear chilli round the top of a can of pop

Report
CigarsofthePharoahs · 21/06/2016 14:42

You want a Naga chilli.
Or some of that utterly vile durian fruit.
He he he!

Tobacco sauce or similar.
Syringe.
Fill Syringe with hot sauce.
Inject in to packet in hidden corner...
Laced butty. No evidence.
