AIBU?

AIBU To Enjoy Scraping My Baby's Head?

As the question really.
Slathered vaseline on LO's head and got out the nit comb. Spent a very enjoyable evening gently scraping the cradle cap off (obviously avoiding the eerie pulsing brain bit).

AIBU to have found this seriously satisfying?? so much so I kind of want it to return so i can have another session

Ohh, I loved that too. (I think I used olive oil, though). YANBU.

I used to pick the cradle cap off DS1's head and he used to fall asleep. I then found out it could cause the cradle cap to become infected so I don't anymore (even though DS2 has a little bit and I would love to pick it off).

I loved picking off DS1's cradle cap. Yesterday found myself hoping that newborn DS2 develops it too Blush

Totally NBU, although I used olive oil too.

Ya so nbu. I get lost doing it to dd2 (who is actually 2 now, but somehow still has quite a bit of it left) . I set myself little targets like trying to pick off large pieces without it crumbling into smaller crumby type bits Blush

Lol! Good luck Superking!
And yes, Magic, the big pieces are delicious!

Alas my fervent scraping seems to have done the trick and no more scaly head.Confused

Think I'll have to move on to picking between her tiny little toes...

YANBU I really miss doing that, my son won't let me now. He is 16 though. Grin

ME TOO!

I used to sit and gently scrape the cradle cap off as DC2 slept. And once the flakes are gone, they don't return.

A FOF has a little girl with the worst case of cradle cap I've ever seen. The entire top of her head is covered in this thick crust. I don't know how she's resisted the urge to pick encourage it off.

Jink perhaps she is saving it for a birthday treat to herself?
Kudos for resisting the urge to lean over and behaving like a nit-picking chimp and do it yourself.

I bloody loved it. One of the best things about having a baby. Grin YANBU.

Oh my god I loved doing that. Its so gross but so satisfying. DS1 had it around and on his ears and peeling those crusty bits was joyous!

I was really fed up when DS2 arrived and had no cradle cap or baby acne.

It's so satisfying! I am trying to get DS2 to sleep so I can have a pick!

I have second degree burns on my shoulders at the moment from a suncream-forgetting incident and the scabs are so pickable that I fear I may end up with no shoulders left at all.

Wait till you get to the bogey-extracting stage.

YABU - it's horrible. Gave me the total boak when dd was a baby - which is odd as I usually love a pick at things. This still turns me stomach at the thought.

My health visitor would agree with you - she was always desperate to have a pick at it!!
Yuck!

Wait until they are teenagers. There is no pleasure greater than squeezing their spots.

Mine won't let me near them now!

Yep love it. I didn't do my dc as babies because I hadn't realised you could but they had nits a few years ago and i combed through for far longer than necessary as I was enjoying getting their scalp gunk so much. I'm pregnant now so will be able to relive this joy!

I loved it, DS was particularly crusty. In fact Blush in the "special gross things box there's some scalp flakes with some hair on!! I know I'm disgusting.

Loved that too. Almost on a par with pulling chicken pox scabs out of dd's baby hair.

I think we all seem to be wonderfully disgusting! It is soooo refreshing to know I'm not just foul on my own! Smile

Elle, I bet you have the dried up shriveled umbilical cord in your revolting special things box? I do!

I have two yellow cord clamps with a crust of cord still on them! I also have hair, toenail and fingernail clippings, and more recently Dds first tooth. DH calls it my witches collection. I will never get rid of their gross things box!!

Gosh, I remember this. DS was born with a really good head of dark hair then had terrible cradle cap. It looked like an omelet was plonked on his head.

When the cradle cap came off, the hair came too, leaving him completely bald. I remember worrying that if somehow scarred his head and he would never have hair. Not the case, thank goodness.
