I know hay fever is a very minor health problem, but today has been CONSTANTLY itching, sneezing, streamy eyes and scratchy throat. Is today particularly bad or is hay fever plus PMT just an especially grumpy combination?!!

Or maybe there is a bee loose in my nose somewhere...

YES!!! And DH just copped a rant because he dared mention for the 10th time today that my sneezes are loud.

Apparently we put this on for fun.

A combination of nasal irrigation and a steroid nose spray has transformed my life this summer.

Honestly. You can buy the nasal kit online and get the nose spray prescribed by your GP. It:s honestly been life changing.

YANBU

Add eyes to that, too.

Life is so much better with antihistamines especially when you don't run out of them over the weekend because you forgot to do you repeat prescription in time AGAIN

Can I do that too, and veer to the right to have a go at my tonsil and then up through my right ear and out the side of my head. I was eyeing up a mini bottle brush earlier.
Sad

Itchy, itchy, itchy.

Thankyou Christina. I've been taking over the counter stuff but nothing has touched it today. Thankyou for the virtual flowers though Scarlet!
KP mine just got a mouthful as I'm apparently a "bit touchy today", which really helped!

Go to the Doctors tomorrow and ask then to prescribe flixonasei
I have 2 squirts up each nostril ( TMI ) every morning
( for perrenial allergic rhinitis ) which means scratchy throat , runny nose and itchy upper palate

ElleBellyBeeblebrox · 19/06/2016 18:59

Oh my god Thankyou, for the tip (which I will certainly try) but also for identifying the itchy upper palate!! My dp tells me to go into another room when I do the "snort clicking" to try and get rid of it. Ugh!!

Sharing everyone's pain here too. It's been particularly dreadful today. Sad Does anyone else have the most awful aches and pains through their body too?

I'm so tired I fell asleep on the train home this afternoon and am about ready to take myself to bed for the evening.

I am totally wiped.

Does anyone else with hay fever get similar itchy reactions INSIDE the skin of their body? I can only describe it as the hayfever type itchiness but DEEEEEEP in my legs or arms as a response to my skin vibrating? DOES ANYONE ELSE WITH HAYFEVER GET THIS???

I second the trip to GP and ask for a nasal steroid spray. I started mine last month, it was the first time I have been able to breathe or have a sense of smell since March.

I knew exactly what this thread was going to be about from the title. You have my deepest sympathy, OP - hay fever used to be the blight of my life, I dreaded May and June. Here's a tip. Move to Scotland. I hardly ever get hay fever up here, and the few days I notice it, it's nowhere near as bad as it was when I lived in the south of England.

Beconase nasal spray, you can get it from a pharmacy over the counter. So much better than brain fog inducing tablets.
Sympathies OP. The itch inside my ears and throat used to drive me demented.

Everything itches. Inside my face, between my toes, my chin. My skin and scalp too (although I might just need to wash my hair?) Thankyou all, steroid nose spray sounds wonderful.

I like Scotland, even more now you've said that!
Rain is coming,is that good? Wash away the dusty sneezy pollen?

Have you tried a hot drink for the itching? It sometimes works for me.

Oh the click snort, i diagnosed ds2 the other day when I heard him doing that.

I'm getting the explosive trio of sneezes and my skin is so sensitive I can't bear my hair on my face.

It's proper shit, hayfever Sad

go to gp and tell him your skin is itching too. Hayfever crippled me but was manageable with loratdine and nose spray but I developed urticaria too (itchy skin and hives). Dr put me on a stronger antihistamine and a tablet that blocks receptors, montelukast - acts as a preventative; it's changed my life. I'm totally symptom free of hay fever for first time ever.

It is shit, I sneezed so furiously and unexpectedly earlier I had a small wee Blush gonna have a hot squash and see if that helps, thankyou.

I think Flixonase and Beconase are more or less the same , just made by different drug companies
I'm in Wales yes we do get hay fever here too and prescriptions are free , but i still think its worh getting a prescription even if you have to pay

My eyes have been particularly bad today - itchy enough that I would quite happily have gouged them out with a rusty spoon...

I have resorted to having a wet muslin over them for most of the day....meh.
