In light of the CPS deciding not to charge Sir Cliff, AIBU to think the BBC should set aside as much air time in broadcasting this announcement as it did when it the police were first involved?

I think he deserves apologies from the Police and the BBC for the way they broadcast the search of his home. I am not one of his fans, but he deserved better treatment than that.

I think he deserves lots of grovelling apologies. The police and BBC treated this whole thing appallingly.

I agree with all of the above.

Hope he sues the arses off them all.

No, I disagree

They don't have sufficient evidence..... But they still have evidence of something, just not enough

Completely agree OP

Manontherun ... Irrespective of evidence or not (and fwiw I never for a minute thought they would charge him), it will be interesting how much coverage the BBC gives the announcement.

Absolutely.
They turned a blind eye to Jimmy Saville so now try & ruin anyone with the flimsiest of allegations.

And when he dies it'll all come out, except it won't because all the people at risk of being exposed will be safe then. Massive cover up. He has many friends in high places who are all as bad as him.

Hi all,

Many thanks for the reports about this thread.

It is very much in the news and we are happy for you discuss the news story but please avoid speculation on events. So far, no one has been convicted of anything.

Many thanks.

There are no charges anymore they have all been dropped.

No conviction doesn't mean no evidence

Insufficient doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Innocent until proven guilty, though.

There may be people out there who had something awful happen to them but because its historic they'll not see justice.

For that reason I don't think effusive apologies are appropriate. A simple one off apology should suffice.

Doesn't mean there is either.

Why just because I don't like vigilante style witch hunts?

Report

No, because that was Cliff's alleged name within the circumstances that he was on trial for

Surferjet I really don't believe they 'try to ruin anyone with the flimsiest of allegations'. That really is a ridiculous statement.

So what are you trying to say exactly?

Report
Queenbean · 16/06/2016 12:29

Well I'm not hinting that Cliff himself is in our midst, all beige coat and comedy moustache, a la detective Cluesou

Just pointing out that his name was Kitty, as is yours!
